No need to apologize, MarkCT! That's one of the best parts of this forum. One thing leads to another, but usually it's all pretty informative and/or entertaining!!

Back in business, and no real harm done. I suppose one can't ask for more than that. Oh, lesson learned also. Great. Thanks for posting. John

I'm not being a smarta**, but is the reason for the "laydown", was it because you had the FEL too high on the side of the hill?
Must have missed the part in the thread that caused it. 25 years ago I did the same thing with a skidsteer and had to run a snatch-rope through the back garage door of my garage with my 4x4 in the garage to upright it. Had bucket up when I turned. Glad to hear that everything turned out ok!

arkydog,

Combination of reasons, none of them too smart. Check the "First Rollover" thread for the grusome details. The FEL wasn't overly high, but it was high enough, and combined with a few other factors to cause the layover.

FEL too high. Yes, I agree. From the picture of the tractor on it's side - the FEL looked like it was quite high up. I generally don't put the bucket more than 6" off the ground when fully loaded and adjust the FEL height according to the terrain to kep the FEL from hitting the ground (another safety hazard).
Thanks for posting this accident. It takes alot of courage to aadmit you could have done better. Luck was on your side. Just hope it will always be.
Just my 2 cents.

We've got a 9,000 lb. Warn winch on the front of the pickup with 150ft of aircraft cable.

My wife has more than once pulled me out of a prairie mud hole with it, although haven't yet managed a rollover. Have managed to sink right up to the frame in wet mud a few time and just the suction of the mud is very difficult to overcome.

A good high capacity winch (either electric or hydraulic) on either the tractor itself or another farm vehicle is a good investment, especially when you NEED it! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
