Root grapples

   / Root grapples #11
Per your guys advice I went with the monster grapple 84". Tractor measures 78" wide so I thought the 84 would be my best bet. Plan on clearing overgrown areas and don't want anything left behind to get the tractor. Took Xfaxman advice and bought it through the guy on ebay. Seems like a real nice guy should have it next week. Post pics when I get it. Thanks again.

Pictures when you get it please. You have a good amount of lift to deal with a big grapple like that. Nice.

From my limited experience with my Anbo GRM, I would say if you're wanting to pick up materials on the ground (Piles of fallen branches, etc) the bottom tines need to be fairly long. I have a root rake which I got explicitly for digging up roots and ground cover and it works great for that. But since the lower tines don't project out very far, they don't really pick up piles of stuff all that well. Which is fine for what I do, but if I were to spend most my time trying to pick up piles rather than dig, I'd make sure to get the longer lower tines.

What you describe is why I am happy with multiple grapples. I do not believe there is an all purpose grapple.
