I have a 5030 with a cab fortunately for me in this cold weather. I just this got a front mount mounted snow blower with the mid mount PTO. This weekend I used it for the first time. It worked very well. However what is the PTO speed you should run it at.

I have a brush hog and run my rear PTO at 5400 which I understand is the industry standard. So is there a recommended rpm setting to run it at. I ran it 1500 to 1800 rand and it seemed OK but I do not want to run it too fast and hurt it.

Thanks John

Hello John..
The rear is 540 RPM...
For the snow blower, you will not hurt it, Let the snow load, wetness, determine how fast to spin it... Run it up to toss the snow..

I would have to dig my manual out, but I am pretty sure mine calls for 2550 for a 540 rear PTO speed. I have run it a little lower and a little higher, but usually right at that.

Thanks for the responses. The manual say run it at "for maximum power run engine at or near full throttle" it just seamed weard not to me not to have an RPM mumber. Thanks John

John, my Operator Manual has a number, I will look it up today and let you know, mine is a 2003 L5030 HSTC.

How do you know when your rear pto is at 540? Mark on engine tach? That same mark on engine tach should set proper speed speed for mid pto too. Philip.

On page #47, my Operator Manual for the GL5030 shows the following: 2550 for the GST/Manual Transmission and 2660 for the HST.

My BX25 manual only gives the engine speed for the 540 PTO. I tried to get a powwer curve for engine speed vs pto speed and drew a blank. Factory said "see your dealer", the dealer said "there is no such thing". Best kept secret in town. Got the same response on a request for a power curve of engine speed vs hydraulic pressure, same answers.

You're going to want to run the blower as fast as your machine will go, particularly if the snow is heavy, so whatever PTO speed corresponds to "full blast". Too slow and your blower can pack up in heavy snow.

PS - I'm jealous of your cab.
