Ruger or Glock

So, if your finger is in the trigger guard and you fall, isn't there a possibility the gun could fire? That's not exactly as safe as a mechanical safety lever.

If your finger is on the trigger would your safety already be off?

Does a Glock have a separate safety lever other than that extra little trigger?

Glock does not have an extra safety, the safety is the trigger... Pull trigger, bang... If you do not want the bang, get your finger off the trigger. Also, if you need it to go bang, there is no safety to flick before it bangs... Pretty simple system, and a very dependable pistol. You can carry it around, shoot it, carry it some more, and never really have to worry about keeping it clean or baby it in any way. Next time you pull it out, you will get the same bang.

And if your finger happens to enter the trigger guard as you pull it out of the holster, might it go bang?

Sure will... just like any other pistol that could not have it's safety on. Just because you think you put the safety on before you holstered your pride and joy, **** happens. Still comes down to keep finger off trigger if there is a round in the chamber. The ability to draw a pistol, flick the safety to OFF, place finger in finger guard, aim, pull trigger is an acquired skill. Just like doing the same thing by keeping your frigg'n finger off the trigger. You need to have it ingrained into your skull, just like how to hook up and run your generator at 1am when you are half asleep... Some folks like the pull trigger bang thing, some folks like the safety flick thing, then there are others that should have their pistol encased in ice and have to chip it out before shooting. :)

My youngest son and I have owned/own all brands mentioned along with all popular semi autos and with Sig, H&K, S&W, Beretta etc. in our safes, we both carry Glocks. I am retired LEO and he is active duty along with being on a private security team at church. Our favorite guns are old model Sigs, but we feel the Glock work best for our needs. However, if we were starting over who knows.

If you train properly and develop muscle memory your finger will never enter the trigger guard as you draw from your holster. If you're not going to pull the trigger your finger should not be inside the trigger guard, it should be indexed on the outside of the trigger guard. Same thing when drawing from a holster, your "trigger finger" should be pointing at the floor/ground outside your trigger guard. Put your finger inside the trigger guard when you're not ready to shoot and you get accidental discharges.
