Ruger or Glock

   / Ruger or Glock #31
I recently purchased a 9mmTaurus Millennium G2 for CCW. It is the same size as my Glock 33 (.357Sig) but it is a bit thinner and lighter. The Glock is 25mm thick at the slide and the Taurus is 22mm. Not much but the difference in weight is noticeable. Both guns fit in the same holster (Mikes soft )although the Glock is a bit more snug. I actually cut the retaining strap off the Holster to facilitate a faster draw. It is snug enough to hold both guns in place in normal activity and I don't plan to do any acrobatics with it on so it works for me.

The Taurus came with 2 clips that hold 12 rounds each so I could have plenty of fire power if I carried both clips. It does have an external safety but it also has the trigger safety just like the Glock so it could be carried in the fire position if you wanted. It also has a SA/DA trigger so if you have a light firing pin strike, you can pull the trigger again to see if it will fire without having to work the slide. I actually like the features better than the Glock since it does have an external safety that you can engage if you like and it is well located for a fast shift to fire pulling it down to fire like any good safety should be. I think it is much easier to pull a safety down than to push it up as some pistols require.
The best thing about it is that if can be bought for less than $200 tax included.

Once again, I am comparing the Ruger LC9s and the Glock 43. For many various reasons I have narrowed the choice down to those two. What I MUST HAVE, remember this, I MUST HAVE, is a cross draw holster so I can get the weapon into use while sitting down. I only want a 9mm as I will be required to shoot so many rounds a month. I also do not want to spend a bunch on money as it will be used only on one morning every other week. I will be positioned in a place to watch people coming in a building observing their behavior and looking for weapons.

Priorities are to not break the bank, to have multiple carry accessories, to use 9mm ammo, to be utterly reliable, to be completely concealable. Not in any order of importance.

I am interested only in discussion of those two weapons. In particular from people who have them and what their impressions are. If anybody has both I would love to talk to you. I do not want any other firearm. Ability to share magazines with others is also important and these are the two most common weapons used.

I understand that your H&K, S&W, Taurus, Hi-Point, or whatever is a superb, fantastic weapon BUT THEY ARE NOT WHAT I WANT INFORMATION ON. I need to hear about the Ruger LC9s and the Glock 43!

Why didn't you just ask for comments from anyone owning a Ruger LC9s rather than wanting folks to compare it to a Glock.
Since you already know what you want, why even ask a question here. You already stated that the Glock is too pricy so just go buy your Ruger and I hope you are happy with it.

I have both an LC9s and a SR9c- I found the LC9s to be too small in the grip for me (I have large hands) and as a result not comfortable for me to shoot thus the wife has it. I carry the SR9c in both a kidney holster and an IWB hip holster.

You might also look at the Ruger EC9S. Uses LC9S magazines and holsters. Ruger EC9s - A New Inexpensive 9mm for Concealed Carry Retail is $299.

What I am looking for is a reason to buy the Glock over the LC9s. Is it worth the extra money?

My Rugers have been stone cold reliable. The little LCP had a failure to eject when I let it get completely filthy. Once cleaned it again ate every type of ammo I could put thru it. Will the LC9s operate as reliably?

Will the Glock be as dependable? Is it worth the $150 extra to buy?

I know several people who have the double stack Glocks but I know nobody who has the single stack 9mm or the Glock 380.

Somebody persuade me to spend the extra money for the Glock.

You have to make your own decision. If I talk you into buying the Glock, then you will be unhappy you spent the extra money. If I talk you out of it, you will feel cheated that you are stuck with the LC9s.... Kind of telling you what truck to buy, who to marry, what tractor you should have. Sometimes in life you make poor decisions, sometimes you come out golden, it's learning process..... They are both quality pistols... Sorry, not trying to preach..... :) I bought my Glock 17 because I wanted something around the house that I could ignore for years, but knew it was ready to go if needed. Also to carry for long periods of time as a backup weapon that I could also ignore, but knew it was there when I needed it. Don't have to baby it, clean it, worry about getting it wet, etc, just depend on it...
