$338 at local gun shop. Checked at Academy and they don't handle that model.

That's a pretty good price. I paid 265.00 back in 94.

Lots of good info. I had a LCP, sold it and got a LC9 and like it a lot better. I also carry a smith m&p 40c and love it, you could get a 9c. I haven't shot the shield yet but heard good things about it. You won't go wrong with the Ruger or smith. Shoot whatever you are looking at before you buy.

WOW! Lots of good info guys. There is a wealth of knowledge here on just about any facet of rural living. I should have joined a long time ago. I'm still thinking of going with a Ruger, possibly the SR9c. Still doing a lot of research, but the SR9c is looking like it maybe my choice. Not definite so time will tell. Thanks to everyone for the info. It may have kept me from making a big mistake. Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!!

Since you're still looking, I suggest you look at a Glock 19 too. These are very fine firearms and extremely reliable. They are also one of the easiest handguns to strip for cleaning that one can find.
Now, the Glocks do not have a magazine disconnect (some folks like 'em...I don't) or an external safety (again, soime prefer that, I don't).

Roy, wouldn't the G26 be better suited for concealed carry?

I carry a G27 or G33 everyday, (.40 S&W & .357 SIG respectively) although open carry, here in the fine Commonwealth of Virginia. Same sub compact size as the G26 and I think they are too big to CC comfortably.

My next pistol will be the S&W Airwieght .38, although it's a small caliber and small capacity it'll keep their heads down until I can make it to the truck for the G22. :)

I never cared for the Glock 26...too big for pocket carry (IMHO), so you might as well carry a bigger handgun...again, my opinion.

I think you'll like that S&W...nice piece! And a gun that is easy to carry always goes with you (I have a lightweight .38 Taurus in my pocket as I type this).

I've had trouble finding the S&W, otherwise I'd own one already.

The point I was attempting to make was you recommended the compact 9mm Glock (G19) to the OP instead of the Sub Compact (G26) for CC.

Yep, I knew what I was recommending...

Alright then. I didn't doubt that you knew what you were saying but I'm still confused. That's ok though. It's not the first time.

I have a S&W Airweight in .38 Special. It's small and light enough to carry in my shirt pocket.

If you got the cash try out a Sig p238. very nice gun, or if you want bigger try a p229.
