Satellite receiver "rebooting" problem?

After 12 years on Directv, the last 3 or 4 with TIVO I had almost no problems whatsoever. When I decided to go HD I read where the Dish DVR (takes the place of TIVO) is much better than DTV's HD version (which is not TIVO). Further, I could get the HD Dish DVR plus two other receivers for free so I changed my service.

I like the DVR software even better than TIVO, but I have had service issues and outages. They have replaced my DVR once already and the wife just called and said its out again.

I may go back to Directv.

The DTV software is the slowest sw I've ever dealt with for TV's. It's ridiculously slow!!! But the service and picture I get in the middle of nowhere makes it worth the wait. I still run the separate TIVO box from the HD reciever, so I might change that and get the DTV DVR someday. For right now, I have to fight with the wife on which box to watch - TIVO or HD. She claims there's no difference in picture quality and likes the TIVO features. I do too, but why she see's no difference in quality... ?????

I just don't get her sometimes...

I've had DTV for 10+ years, purchased a new HDTV in Feb. and upgraded to the HD box. Mine went into reboot mode a coupel of times in the first month, since then, no problems. As for the B-band converter, DTV will send it to you at no charge. You'll most likely have to upgrade to the new 5 LNB dish in order to receive all of the HD channels as well. Sports in HD are simply awesome.

Well it turns out that when my wife thought the dish DVR was out she just had the home theater receiver set for the wrong input. So, I have not had any problems with the DVR in the 2 weeks since they replaced it.

I really like the software.

As for HD the only thing I don't like is there is not enough of it, and the broadcasters can't make up their mind what aspect ratio they are going to use, so you have to fool around with the aspect ratio setting all the time.
