It's been a little while. Been busy with two kids. Speaking of which, I can't build a dozer for the one boy and not build something for the other.
So I've started on this.
I still have some design work to do but I can only get so far until I start buying parts so I can model them properly.
First up? Some axles. One is a GM 14 bolt full float axle and the other is from a 2wd S10. I have a plan to graft them together and will show more detail soon.
With this build, I may tend to post more details on my webpage (seen here). I've found that it lets me organize the build a little better and index the different stages. However, I won't forget about you all here and I will continue to update you all as the build moves forward.

That is true. That could be a project that I work on with both boys.
Still probably a few weeks before I can start making sparks or chips in the garage. I have a pretty good idea how I'm going to meld the two axles together. In the end, it should look like this.
The center section, axle shafts and a few inches of tube will come from the S10. The spindles (and a portion of the tube) and the hubs will come from the 14 bolt.

Hi Eddie. It's holding up pretty well. Just some oil leaks I have to fix. I think I put about 20-30 hours on it before I painted. We got so much snow that year. After I painted it, I installed an hour meter. I checked it last night and we put about 22 hours on it so far. Doesn't seem like much. We didn't get as much snow this year. And up until a few weeks ago, it seemed to rain every other day. So my yard was pretty soggy. And one of the tractor shows I was going to take it to in July was canceled because the field was so wet from all the rain. It's been an interesting summer. I plan to take it to the annual antique Caterpillar show that's being held this year in Wisconsin. I'm looking forward to that.
Knowing what I put into the dozer, I have a fair amount of work ahead of me with this dump truck. But if I plan ever better, it shouldn't be too bad. We'll see if I can finish this one.
