Ok yeah I don't have a contactor then. My lead goes in the back of the box around the rear of spool and straight to the front. And yes it's hot all the time. It seems to function fine without though I'm sure having it is nice.
I found the contactor by itself for sale but there may be more circuitry involved than simply adding it and connecting it. I'll probably just use it as is. I may bring my buddy's bottle home and try it with 75/25 this evening. Not sure how it will do with mig?

When running Mig on my LN-25s I can't tell any difference between them and my LF-72 wire feeder. Just have to hook up the little wire clip to the ground, so the wire will feed is all.

Here is a picture of a vertical up hill Mig weld I made with one of my LN-25s.

I added a new one to the fold. I've been thinking about getting a new inverter TIG welder but I've gotten use to my old Dialarc so for now I decided to hold off on the TIG. I'm still waiting on a reply for info on the Everlast units anyway. But for my main shop welding I got a little tired of fumes and smoke from stick welding so I decided to go with a decent sized MIG. I've been researching different models and had read only good things about the Hobart Ironman 230. I happened to stop by TSC and with the sale they had going I got it for less than 1400$ and 12 months zero interest. I couldn't pass it up at that price. Ideally it would have infinite voltage control but the 12 taps haven't hindered me at all yet. Besides the Miller version would be twice the money almost. It welds great, extremely smooth arc and no spatter. For most of my welding it will do fine. And for my outside stuff the Sa200 and ln25 will handle that. I really don't need the ln25, I may just sell it.image.jpgimage.jpg

Good deal! I'm sure you'll be fine with the 12 tapped settings. My TA has the same.

I wouldn't sell the LN-25. It's a perfect match with your SA-200. Some .045" or even 1/16" self shielded wire for big outside projects.;)

If you decide to sell the LN25, I'm calling Dib's. I figure one of these days, I'll get around to fixing my Sa200.

I'll probably end up hanging onto it but if I let it go you'll get first shot. I bet it will be nice with the Sa200, I'm gonna have to at least try that first!

dang, and here I was packing my bags getting ready for a road trip. Keep me in mind if you do decide to let it go.

I've been tinkering with the shorthood in my spare time. The carb has been soaking in cleaner for a few days now and I just got a kit for it today. I also began looking into the no spark issue, turns out the magneto coil is shorted so I have a new one and a mag rebuild kit on the way as well. I had heck removing the coil mounting screws and I ended up having to drill them out and tap it to 3/8". I snapped a pic of the replacement Allen head lugs, and a pic of the welder as it sits now with the valve cover and panels off. The motor seems pretty clean and healthy and the compression checks out good. I'm hoping to have my parts in a few days and maybe have the ol girl running by a week or so. Then I can focus on the welder side and begin to clean everything up. I discovered that the code on the generator is a few years newer than the faceplate, 1954 or 55 I think. Not sure the story there, maybe it was replaced early on? But hopefully she'll weld and I won't have to replace coils or anything too expensive.:drink:
Hmm let me try the pics again..
