SCUT: Massey / Iseki vs. Kubota / Kubota

I drove both and really wanted to go with the MF. But I ended up with the BX. I went back and fourth to both dealers read reviews, played in the dirt. I liked the MF but after sitting in the seat for about a half hour it began to hurt me. Now I do have some metal plates in me so that I would bet has a great deal to do with it. By far the best seat is on the 1 series...that seat is fantastic.

I also liked that the land pride grapple was basically made around the BX, and "could be made to work" on the JD and MF.

I also found that the bucket and backhoe worked fine at 2000 rpm. The manual says no full throttle for the first 50 hrs (IIRC) so I have not had it at full throttle at all yet.

Another thing was that the MF did not have 0% for 60 months like the JD and Kubota did. I think the Mahendra has it for 72 months now.

I did not drive the Max, it just had a cheaper feel to it over the other three.....the front axle looks very strong, but the plastics and such just felt like a different grade of plastic. And talking of plastic I did not like that the JD was all plastic.

I really think when you get down to it they are all so close together and are all good machines you should get the one that feels best to you and your behind.

To me it really does not matter where it is made....anymore this is a world economy....as long as I have a good strong local dealer to take care of issues that is very high on the list for me.

I also think that the MF was the best looking of them all.

Just my two bits.

It seems the BX is made to run with some RPMs and I don't believe I have ever heard of anyone wearing one out so I personally don't believe it is a problem.

I realize you need RPM's to work...The BX slow hydraulics really erks me - I built bucket trucks for 16 years that could put a man 55' in the air at idle, I know, I know, different animal but still.....

Just my two bits.

Well put and I agree. I have a JD dealer where I live and many more to choose from within a 30 minute drive.

I was really hoping to rouse up a few MF owners but they are few here.

I'll be punching up a new thread in the MF forums....

Take some time and sit on that JD deluxe seat then on the others....nothing is anywhere near close in comfort.

I really want to try to put the JD seat on my Kubota I like it that much....I am sure I could figure a way to do it.

Just something a little different for you to think about. Been on many service calls through the years for slow hydraulics as well as poor cut on mower decks and even strange noises while operating the tractor. Poor cut from the deck was because it was to noisy to run over 1/4 throttle, time for ear cover! Strange noises in the transmission, trying to give a hydro full speed ahead at or near idle pulling a load, starvation of oil to transmission! A tractor should not be at an idle when working a loader or trying to drive it with a load or on a hill.

Some know better and some have been told not to operate a machine that way, some are new operators that assume they know proper operation of equipment or someone else does it they know who taught them to drive rather then reading the owners manual.
I've heard the complaint about the BX's and for some knowing them I just smile and for some I agree but the market is built for everyone and we don't have issues with the BX's hydraulics failing.

We have probably averaged about 100 BX's a year since 2001 with there introduction. There probably is a few of them out there that the fan might be missing the blades that haven't been fixed yet but we only sell about three fans a year. the good part of the fan vs some of the other options is if you know you just ruined your fan but you can still drive home! The other design we see with the additional cooler added on when that gets broken and you loose your fluid, hopefully you notice it and shut it down before you starve the engine and find a way to get the tractor without it running to a place to fix it. This system might be harder to get to but we have seen it before.

Massey is offering 0% right now for 72 months. I'm clued into swapping seat though which is harder to justify on smaller tractors.

The MF dealer was the only one that told me that the 0% was not the better deal because you loose the $2400 in discounts. The 3.99% financing came out cheaper in the end and he pointed that out to me.

The BX25 has a nice deluxe seat as standard.

The MF and John Deere sell two different versions of there SCUT's one with more bells and whistles including deluxe seats which are much nicer.

I currently have a Massey GC2400 and bought it over the Kubota for 2 reasons.. the brake pedal on the left making it easier to inch up to something, and the larger displacement engine gave me the impression of more torque. Now that Kubota put the brake on the left for the BX25D, it's really a toss-up. I have found the torque issue to be irrelevant.

I chose my MF GC2400 over the comparable JD and Kubota models because the operator platform fit me better. Felt squeezed on the other machines.

That is really so much of it with these machines....I think that they are so close together that you should get the one that fits you best.
