Sears/Kmart quickly disappearing

I keep wondering about the folks buying high dollar appliances or yard machines and if they'll have any kind of warranty options.

Good thing I spent my Sears gift card last week. Yikes. End of an era. Kinda full circle, really, when you think about, and others have mentioned, that you could mail order anything from Sears and have it delivered to your house..... you can do the same thing today through Amazon, Walmart, etc... So I guess the ere hasn't ended, it's just changed as to who your buying from.

My lifelong relationship with Sears ended when the catalogs stopped. I guess the internet is the catalog now and Sears just couldn't make the leap(took me awhile too). Still sad to see them go.

For a name like Sears...BK is not necessarily the end of the name...

...Choose your favorite long shot underdog axiom for them to come out of BK and rebuild anything close to what they were...BUT...with the right type of management and an ideal (best of both worlds) business model aligned with the right brand and business partners...they could not only survive but prosper again...

It's a lot of cards to fall in the right places and a bunch of ducks to line up but it could happen...

Additionally...is there any major retailer (WWW or B&M) that has any semblance of a parts and service dept.?

Yep... you could even order a House... several of the Sears stickbuilt homes around here.

As a kid... the Sears catalog for fascinating... I looked at each and every page... they had tools I had never seen, go carts, trailers, chain saws, work clothes...

Dad use to get his work boots there... if the sole wore out before the shoe it was replaced...

I still buy Craftsman Garden hoses on sale... find them to be an excellent value and always had a lifetime warranty...

First tools I bought came from Sears... first suit from Sears, first Home Electronics came from Sears, painted a lot of homes with Sears Best... Lawn Mowers from Sears, and all my Work shirts until they were discontinued and the went to Big Mac at Pennys and they are now gone...

Mom liked Sears Detergent and we bought a fair number of appliances too... plus tires and batteries...

Opps... forgot the Garden and Pet center... the mighty Palm Trees were bought at Sears back in 1960...

Awww, the memories. I would order tires and wheels and they would come in the mail...mounted and balanced and ready to go. Now, THAT was service!

My dad was an architect. I remember him pointing out Sears houses here in town.

My favorite time of year was when the Sears Wish Book would come in the mail before Christmas.

When I was designing and remodeling rentals... I found the Sears Catalog a wealth of information as each item had dimensions... ie the mattress size of a King or Twin, sofa, tables, chairs, etc...

Still have that well worn catalog on my reference shelf.

I don't know about other areas. But back in the 70's to the early 2000's sears had a large auto service center here. they even sold gasoline.

Someone mentioned buying work boots there. My grandfather always bought his work boots among other things from sears.
Use to stay weekends with my grand parents. On saturday mornings we went to the local sears store.

There is a local small sears store not far from me that is a franchise store owned by a local family. I don't know how this will affect them
