Seat switch bypass

Here is the way the wiring works on the L-series seat switch. I would think it would be the same on the other models. There are three wires on the switch (black blue orange) that terminate in male pins in the connector. With the seat only all the way down there should be continuity between the black and orange wire only. With the seat only up there should be continuity between the black and blue wire only.

On both my BX's I just unplugged the connector, and put in a jumper. Use dilectrict grease and some electrical tape for a waether resistent job.

My BX switch is a pain too... it did save the tractor when I tipped it by shutting off the engine.

From the stories here of tractor with diesels running on their sides I figured I dodged an expensive repair.

I do hook my switch up if I work on uneven ground. That doesn't happen often though.

I just took a cable tie and fixed the problem under the seat of my MX5100. Simple to do.

Those switches are really simple.
Generally a normally open circuit that needs the switch to 'close' the circuit which then simply wants a jumper to complete the circuitry (or even use tape to close the switch) Weight closes the circuit by closing the switch.

Some might be a closed circuit that wants to be 'opened' by weight in which case unplugging or cutting will dis activate.
I would guess the former is the norm.

Simple enough then I just didn't know how "smart" they may have gotten with them maybe by wiring them into the computer somehow to make it harder to simply bypass by tying it down or unplugging.

Adjust the seat forward so you can keep your weight over the switch. If you defeat a safety and system and something ever goes wrong, even if it doesn't involve the switch. The jumpered out safety system will be seen in court as a disregard for safety and the well being of others.
