Seat switch bypass

Thanks, I am working at it, but enforced rest is a pain.

How are you in the middle of no where as "City Dude"?

I drive out of town to our property. I guess I could have called myself "no where man"?

I will not advocate or condemn the bypassing of "safety interlocks" - I will ask a question .....

Of all the various safety interlocks, why is the seat safety switch one of two that has a "legal" way to bypass on many newer model devices if it is "never to be bypassed"

What do I mean?

On some models I have seen there is a key position that can be set that will disable either or both of two safety switches. On is the switch that prevents a riding mower from running if the blade is engaged and the mower is in reverse. The other is the seat switch, thus allowing the operator to stand to see the front of the attachment while manipulating a load.

Is there a simple non evasive way to bypass the seat switch? Whenever I get on a slight grade I can't stay in the seat well enough to keep it engaged and it's highly annoying. Today I was mowing round the pond and if I tried to look back to watch the mower I just couldn't keep the seat down too light in the pants I guess.
NOT! Recommended !! And I'm the first one to bypass things like rio switches
As Nancy R said ... Just say No!

It was the same when folks were disconnecting passenger side front airbags... they needed to sign a waiver for the Dealer to do this in Pickups.

Not too much later... the trucks started coming with a key disable switch to turn off the the passenger front airbag.

Just like RTV with speed limiters set at 25.... purely from a liability standpoint.

For the record... I have not disconnected any... I have lowered the sound lever of my Deere 110 backup alarm... my neighbor was really annoyed by it... especially since the equipment shed is near their bedroom window.

Has anyone found a way to reduce the sensitivity of the switch? The one on my L5240 occasionally gives me fits. I have jumped it and the problem goes away. Had a similar problem with the one on a BX2230. Switch tested fine. Finally found that it would loose continuity when wiggled side to side. Replacing it solved the problem. Efforts to fix the one on the L5240 haven't worked. I'd rather solve the problem than bypass the switch
Since it won't shut down if your foot is off the hydro pedal, might there be a way to change the "throw" on that switch so it won't shut down with the hydro pedal only slightly depressed?

on my bx2230 I used duct tape to hold the switch down and just buckled the seat belt around the seat. Once every 2 years or so I have to replace the ducttape

Try Gorilla tape next time and maybe it'll last longer. I'm a new fan of that stuff.
