Not sure of the Copper Sulfate (definitely NO on flushing it) but adding a Nylon Stocking full hung into the diverter box could be OK so anytime a rush of water is sent out it gets a dab of Copper Sulfate.

Mark, I'm not sure why you say "no flushing" of copper sulfate. I suppose that response has to do with introducing it into the septic tank. As far as I know, the amounts of copper sulfate in a single treatment would not be enough of a biocide to cause septic tank problems. Most all of the commercially available root control agents are copper sulfate. Roebic is one example that says it is safe for septic tanks. The method of introduction is to flush it down the toilet. Most instructions I read say to introduce no more than 2-4 oz at a time and flush. The copper sulfate crystals will expand, but if you flush small amounts with plenty of water, the crystals will all clear through the commode. If you have severe problems with water backup between the house and septic, then using copper sulfate is not an option. For this, mechanical removal is needed before any chemical solution is added.
Anyhow, I'm just curious why you strongly suggested to not flush the copper sulfate.:confused3:
