I heat with wood through our long Northern Michigan winters and am always looking for ways to to make the chore of cutting wood easier. A few years ago decided that I wanted to try a buzz rig, and after looking around at plenty of beat-up antiques and researching the few commercially built units, I decided invest a little shop time and build my own. I had a 1.25:1 right angle gear box from an old spreader, and found the 26" carbide tipped industrial blade on e-bay. The guard was plasma cut by my steel supplier from a cad drawing that I provided. I think that I have about 20 hrs into the project. The blase turns at about 1000 RPM which seems to work fine. The Kubota B7100 has enough power to cut through any log that care to lift.
