Should I be leary of buying a tractor that has not been used/very low hours?

Price is way too high. You could buy a used 2011-2012 B series with loader for less than that price, still with reasonable hours. I traded in my 2011 B2920 (150 hours) recently and am familiar with the value and pricing. No way a 2006 B is getting $13-15K, regardless of the hours.

I bought my then 2yr old, 240 hrs, B7610 WITH trailer and box blade for $11.5K in 2009.

I bought a 25 year old B1750 that had 275 hours. I used it a pretty often 15-20 years ago at work, but it had been sitting for the last few years. So far I haven't had any problems with it. But then I paid $1.5K for it and a Woods RM400 RFM. I can afford to pay for any problems that come up later.

I would run the tractor for 3 or 4 hours, then give it a good once over. And if all looks good, offer about $12K for it. If he sticks to $15K, let him sell it to someone else.

I would not even show interest in it. It is old and unused, presumably since soon after purchase. You have already had some posts about it not being a good thing for it to sit so long, possible problems and spares difficulties later.

The owner will not tell you the truth about why it has never been used. How many hours on the clock after he had it delivered, shown how to operate it and then played around with it a little? At least a few of those 20, so basically he has never used it. He seems a wee bit greedy on his price too, so obviously not somebody prepared to do anybody a favour.

You can buy a lot of tractor for $15k but assess your needs. I would take a good look at what a dealer has. This 8 year old tractor may look nice and run fine but it is a long term investment without any warranty.

Agree with most the posts above. $11K, bare tractor is the right price on that unit.

I sold my three year old, 150 hour, B2320/FEL last winter and got a really solid price, $13K but the price was nowhere near the $15k this seller is asking. He's way off.

I also turned around and bought a somewhat similar deal to what you're looking at. A 5 year old Kubota BX2360/FEL with 24 hours and bought it at the dealership, where the machine was gone through inspection in the shop, and it all checked out. $10K. Exceptionally low hour tractors 4-6 years old, grandpa passes or situation changes? These are more common than you might think. They don't fetch absurd prices, which I consider your seller's price to be.

You're probably not dealing with a sensible person here and when I confront such folks, it's best to just walk away.

Your response is the exact opposite to mine. I am not going to argue the point. Please believe that, but I would be interested to know why you would be so keen if you could get it at a "non-premium" price.
