Dealer Should I look elsewhere

   / Should I look elsewhere #11
"It is out of my hands, I can't $%& you a tractor".

I don't care about anything else, that alone would have been enough to get me out of there.

I would of course inform the owner, but still go elsewhere.

I still suggest talking to the owner and telling him what the salesman said and see what his response will be. If you have owners with integrity, The salesman may be looking for a new job and you may get some freebies out of the deal. What have you got to lose? Ken Sweet

K, the salesman was just plain rude, he should have informed you of what the holdup is, shipping, factory or what ever.

I have called him twice since the purchase, the poop the tractor comment came on the 1st phone call.

Funny, he didn't mind calling me about 30 times when I was thinking about buying the tractor

Maybe I worked with cops, crooks, prosecutors, defense attorneys, etc., too long, but nobody makes a statement like that to me without it getting grim pretty darned quick.

On my first contact with a salesman, I explain how I do business so there are no misunderstandings and it seems to work quite well.

Before getting too excited, have a chat with the dealership owner. Honestly express your concern and ask for a date certain for delivery. If the answer doesn't meet your expectations, discuss canceling the order.

What Mike says, Makes more common sense to me. Ken Sweet

I call the saleman and I get "It is out of my hands, I can't $%& you a tractor".

Agree with Mike and Mr. Sweet. It makes sense to give the owner an opportunity to "make it right". You can't hold the whole organization responsible for the actions of one representative in this situation.

I also agree with these but you can hold the entire organization responsible for their public representative but.............I agree that you should go up the chain to see if someone else can take this bad taste out of your mouth. There are bad Apples and sometimes good Apples have bad days. I believe a good Apple having a bad day would have called you back and apologized but that's just one mans opinion.
Having been at all levels of the chain, I'd want to know what someone that I supervised or that worked for me said to discourage a buyer of what I was trying to sell. Call his boss. If that doesn't make you feel alot better and his boss isn't the owner, call the owner. If that doesn't make you feel good, get your money back and go else where because you will know that it's a place with a Bad Apple at the top.

I would definitely go elsewhere. I would let the dealership owner know why though. If he doesn't know how his customers are being treated he can't do anything about it. If he does know and for some reason allows it, even more reason not to do business there. Absolutely no way would I give any one money after being treated that way. no matter how bad I wanted the product. Always other sources for tractors. And I would definitely get my deposit back. It would not be worth their while (nor Kubota's reputation) to have this go to court for a deposit.

Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome.

Bought a Kubota B2620 on 12 October and was told that the tractor would be here at the end of the month. It is now getting to be mid November and no tractor. I call the saleman and I get "It is out of my hands, I can't $%& you a tractor". I'm thinking, then you shouldn't have told me that it would be here at the end of the month.....

I kind of compare this to walking in a restaurant and the silverware is dirty, do I walk out now or hope that is the only problem I will run into. Typically what would happen is that the service would turn out bad, the food would be terrible, and it would be over priced. I will kick myself if I stick with this dealer and I have trouble for the next 4 years with parts, service, etc

I gave a large deposit so I am wondering if I can even change my mind at this point or will I be hit with a restocking fee. I have a trailer so I could have got the tractor at any dealer just chose the closest.

Also remember, that the dealer can scan the entire Kubota inventory and get a tractor from another dealer if the delivery from Kubota is the holdup.

:welcome: to TBN. I've learned a lot on this website. I hope you stick around. Keep us informed!

First things first - sorry to hear you had this occur. We just bought our first tractor - we shopped around before we made a committment - we went with someone that had a great reputation - we didn't want to experience anything out of the ordinary. Hopefully your deal is something that can get fixed without incident.

I have a trailer so I could have got the tractor at any dealer just chose the closest.

Your thread says you have a trailer and went with the closest dealer - I'd get in my truck, drive to the Dealer with my paperwork, ask to speak to the Owner or Sales manager - voice my concerns - and go from there... If it was long distance I'd do the same thing but over the phone. If nothing else - I'd let them know I am going to cancel the deal if they don't promise the 1st service as Free... if they are rude I'd ask for even more. If they didn't make a good faith offer - I'd get my money back... and then I'd call a reputable Dealer in Kentucky... :)

Good luck. Hope it works out!!
