It does look beautifull when freshly cut. However, speaking as a wood miller myself, the stuff is worthless.
Eucalyptus was first introduced to the states (its from australia) as a source of lumber, it is very dense, and rot resistant. however, many people have gone broke experimenting with growing and trying to process eucalyptus for the lumber industry.
It even failed as railroad tie material due to twisting, warping and splitting charateristics.
There are huge abandoned stands of Eucaltptus plantations in central california and Hawaii remaining as a testament to its lack of value as lumber
It has since taken over along the west coast, depleating groundwater, invading native habitat and a real menace during wildfire season.
It makes good firewood!
