I have a couple more pics of my slow progress on this side mower. Sorry I have been so long on this one but it looks like it going to be complicated for me. Here is the mover frame.

( I don't understand what you are trying to say. A tow behind mower can be set from center to extreme right or left. It is usually set to overlap the front mower. If the tow behind mower is the only mower, it can be set to any position. )

You are correct in what you are saying and I agree with you this works fine for mowing but it's no good to trim along or out over ditches with as the wheels will simply drop off into the ditch.

For trimming ditches the mower has to be suspended so as to hang out over the ditch rather than falling down into it.

Sounds like you either need to customize an existing mower to get the wheel placement you want, get a boom mower, get a sickle mower or get a goat. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

1*I thought you wanted a boom mower.
2*For side extensions, we that frequent the Power Trac forum would consider the tow behind units from Acreaze(sp?) or Swisher and offset them to the side.
3*I think the closer you put the wheels in from the edges the more likely it is to eat a lot of dirt on dips and ridges. That, or it will just skid along and tear up the grass.

1*That or a mower suspended from a frame that reaches out over the ditch.
2*I don't think the swisher has enough reach to cover a ditch that's 2 to 5 feet wide and these mowers would simply run into the ditch.
3* That's one reason for suspending the mower using either a boom or a suspended frame attached to the tow tractor.
Heck it could even be attached to one side of a MMM or towed behind like the tow behind mowers.

Especially if you hit it with the mower. Maybe goat burgers, too. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

IMO, there are only two types of mowers that will do that:

1. Rotary mower on a hydraulic boom, or

2. A sicklebar with a hydraulic cylinder on it that will prevent it from falling down too far...

or 3* a suspended frame .
