I've hit those immovable objects already. The plow simply flops down, no problem.
Actually after all the problem deciding which size blade to get I probably should have gone for the 7' instead of the 6'. It amazes me how the blade can curl the snow even at a slow speed in 2nd gear.

I use float with the skid shoes. I also switched the hoses so angleing the blade does not require me to push the diverter button but now the curl does, because once it is set I hardly use the curl at all.

I agree, the blade folds easily when it hits any immovable object. Much easier than I expected. Like you said, it's amazing how far it will curl the snow off to the side yet still be sensitive enough to flop when needed.
My blade floats independent of the FEL, so I keep the FEL lifted slightly. I don't get a good frozen base until later in the winter though, so I ususally have to even keep the blade edge slightly above the gravel. Otherwise the blade's skid shoes sink into the drive and the blade rolls the gravel off with the snow. I use curl to adjust as I go. Tap tap up, tap tap down. It doesn't take much practice to get used to it. Once things are frozen good, it is really easy "work".

Good idea, one less action. I'm thinking of adapting a plow for my loader, I have the 3rd scv with remotes on the back, was gonna make some hoses to go to the loader from the remotes. Was gonna install disconnects right where the other 4 loader disconnects are so I could just leave the hoses on the loader. IF I do this I could do what you mentioned, then I wouldn't have to use the 3rd scv lever for angling, just use the curl positions on the stick.

Yea, that would help you quite a bit. Much easier just keeping your hand on one thing than moving between more than one.

Yea PTO speed. Engine RPM was ~2500 RPM. Two stage. Maybe they regeared the newer ones for higher RPM at the 2nd stage.

The diameter of the paddles as well as the quantity also counts.

Older blowers had maybe 16" and only 3 paddles.

Newer blowers (like PUMA) all have 4 paddles (blades) and larger diameters. (20"?)

Larger = farther and more= empty the blower faster.

My guess is the smaller 3 bladed blowers would cover a wider range of applications as they, for sure, require less HP.
