LouieJr it is easy to put a hook on. You just need some cable clamps like these and I would suggest an eyelet thingy also to reduce wear at the hook eye. You can just loop the cable thru the hook or you can be fancy and make a Flemish Eye. There is a good youtube on that. The simple way works just fine with our size cable and tractor winches.

Looks like the clamps shown in the photo are either omni- directional, or directionless depending on your point of view.

At any rate, there is no saddle for the dead horse or the live one. ;-))

Both horses have saddles with that style clamp.

Best way to cut cable is with a mig welder, it seals the end, then I just make a small loop and use two 3/8" regular 2-$3.00 cable clamps, I get the ones at the tractor place, there stronger then the ones the hardware store carry's. I'm running 5 sliders with some grease every now and then, no hook on the end, didn't like all the limbs and twigs it catches.

Sometimes for me, hooking up 5 chokers at once is like playing cats cradle, over this tree, under that tree, go between these two trees that's still standing, I dont want to scratch-em, 50 ft. of cable goes quick, good thing I have 50' more on the spool.
