Small diesel container

I'm looking for a small (<5 gal) yellow container to keep diesel in for my little Yanmar. I've only been able to find 5 gal ones. Does anyone know where I might find a 1-2 gallon diesel container?
I'm thinking of using an old Penzoil jug, but I don't think it is sturdy enough, and it doesn't have a pour spout.

Couple options.. look for a kerosene, or oil container.. they will be blue for kerp.. or black for oil...

Most filling stations I know will not let you put gas in anything but a red container.. nor will they let you put anything other than gas in a red container.. howecer will let you put kero or diesel in either yellow or blue containers as it is so similar.

Next option is to get a 1 gallon metal can.. I think you can still get paint thinner and garage floor sealer in 1g metal cans.. use the 'product', clean the can.. then paint it yellow and mark diesel on it with black vinyl letters or stencil... makes a handy 1g can.

I tried the small gas can myself. Didn't like the possibility that one of the family members would need gas and grab it. So finally bought a 5 gallon yellow diesel can. Only buy 2 or 3 gallons of diesel at a time to fill the kuboto so it isn't too heavy, just a bit big in the shed.

I use the 5 gallon yellow diesel can, but don't use it's pour spout. 5 gallons of diesel is too heavy to hold up for as long as it takes to empty, so I use a siphon-type pump that came with a kerosene heater. I just set the 5 gal container on the hood of the Kubota, start the siphon and let it do the work. They cost about $3.50

i know your'e looking for small container but for someone using a little more, i suggust getting a barrel and pump. i got one for free and you can get a barrel pump for 15-100 $. you don't have to fill it up. i buy what i expect to use in 30-60 days to keep it fresh. i just like being able to pull up and fill up when i need it rather than going to town to buy 5 gal to finish what i'm doing. you don't have to worry about spilling it all over the tractor trying to pour out of a can.

i do the same as the post above did. i got 1 gal, and a couple 2.5 gal plastic red gas containers and painted them cat yellow. just in case junior starts rootin around the garage for a gas can when he's out of gas. all the 2-stroke fuel cans are marked with what mix ratio they are on a piece of duct tape across the container.

Flin - I looked for a long time and also couldn't find a small (2-2 1/2 gal.) yellow container. Looks like some mfg. could market something like this.
I get my diesel in a yellow 5 gal. diesel container (Walmart has them) then transfer it into a 2 gal red container at home. prior to filling Kubota. 5 gal too heavy for me to hold up. Red can marked "Diesel Transfer" can.
Like the idea of using a 2 1/2 gal Kubota Oil container, like some do.

This is one of my pet peeves - spilling fuel.

Thanks for the link, sir. I haven't been able to find a pri-g/d seller in my area..... I've heard good things about this product, can anyone elaborate? e.g. I have a tractor with 6 month old diesel in it, can I still use it, or does it need to be treated?

BTW, what is the reasonable life span of diesel sitting in storage?? Thanks, all -arthr

I think 6 month old fuel should be no problem at all. It wouldn't hurt to add some diesel algaecide to your tank if anything, but it's probably not needed.
