John Deere makes very good equipment... and they never "give 'em" away - either! $20K for the MoCo and need 80hp-100hp Ag tractor; with baler, and tedder and rake.
Likely burn a big hole in a $100K bill for newer model JD equipment...
I can see an old model Farmhand accumulator and bale grapple and an old, $5K 2WD Ag horse with a $5K baler, tedder, rake combo in my future!!

The maneuverability of the mo-co is almost all in the tractor driving it.
I should add a bit more to that, in a trailed type unit, the turning radius and ability to work in small fields is limited by the tractor and having a the tongue set for proper tight angle pto operation.
A 2wd tractor with a short wheelbase is helpful. If you're worried about actual size for getting through gates, thats a different thing.

The single exception would the the Kuhn trailed w/ the gyro hitch. I believe thats good to > 90deg turns.
