Jeez! So, one foot on the TIG control, the other foot on the positioner speed, and the other other foot on the camera shutter?

I've often wondered how to get that consistent weld. Don't move the gun... move the piece. How cool is that?

Thanks Paul. Some of my welding is getting better enough to have me grind away some of the really bad stuff and weld it again. 'Course I'm not welding using a mirror over my shoulder or anything like that! Maybe next year. My LWH (lucky welding hat) is really helping out. :D

I'm going to do a video soon so you can see first hand how the positioner works. In this usage of it I didn't use the positioners foot pedal. I just hit the override switch and used the other switch to get the positioner rotating in the right direction and went at it. When time allows I'm going to fabricate an adjustable arm rest for the positioner. That will make it much more comfortable when doing repetitive welds.
I bet your welds are great and your Just being modest ;)

Nice engineering and great skills, you have to be proud of the work you can do.
.

Thank you sir. I appreciate that. I did some welding for a machine shop the other day and today the owner called and said that the welding I did was inspected by a welding inspector and the inspector stated that the welds were amongst the best he had seen. To tell the truth that made my day considering I don't consider myself a welder. Thank you again for your kind comments. Have a great weekend!

I look forward to that video! Have a look at my 3PH winch bracket on the "Build it Yourself" forum. You might recognize that hat! :D

Goes to show that we're not just being polite when we say that your welds look fantastic.

The welding on that flange was enough to make my jaw drop and for me to have to scratch my head. Hard to believe that it's hand welded. I just can't say enough about how beautiful your work is. Keep the pictures and threads coming. I don't think we'll ever grow tired of seeing a master at work. Even if you're not a welder.;)

Cyril you do realize I'm only showing you my good welds  Every now and then I do a good one ;) I'm slowed down with vehicle repairs in the shop these days but when I think something might be of interest in the line of welding I'll be sure to post it. I'm about as far from a master as one can get but I do appreciate your kind words. Hope everything is well on your end. How is the spool valve holding up?

The valve spool did well. Thank you.

Unfortunately, I had to sell the mower in the end of September to cover property taxes.:(

With the economy, OT has been in short supply this year and I just couldn't scrape together the $4000 I needed any other way. The good part about it though, is that I got enough to both pay the property taxes and catch up the mortgage which had been getting paid late each month for the last 11 months. Now that everything's caught up, the OT is finally starting to come again. Had a project that required me to work 61.5 hours of manditory OT in the last two weeks.:confused2: I wish that had happened a couple of months ago, I wouldn't have had to sell the mower. Oh well, there's always other things to consume my money. In the last few months, the oven, fridge, and clothes dryer are all trying to go out on us. Monday night my wife and I are going to go look for a new oven. I've been using the BBQ grill on the padio for most of the summer to get around the issue of the oven not working.

Sorry to hear this Cyril. I think most will admit that we've all had times in our lives that were difficult and we've had to readjust the way we do things to keep it above water. I know it's tough stateside. I see it on the news every day but things WILL change and get better.

As for the mower. Heck there's more of them out there. The time will come and you'll get another one and when you do you know where to get things repaired on it if it quits working so hang on to my address ;)

I don't know of anyone who don't have worries and I'm no exception. My oldest son (28) is heading to Afghanistan for eight months. He is a Biomedical Engineer for the military and it's really bothering me and the wife. I always said that it don't matter what you have in this world as long as you have your wife and kids.

We all have worries and yours will work out. You seem to be on the right track now. You know where I am if you need me. Paul

Thanks Paul. That means a lot to me.

As for the mower, I feel the same way. Better to give up the mower for now than to loose the farm for good. Another mower will come along when the timing is right. The mortgage is now current, the taxes are paid on the farm, and the wife and kids are healthy... Life is good.

Cyril:

Sorry to hear the Gummint was putting the screws to you on property taxes.

Keeping the home is more important than the mower; but it sucks you had to unload it to pay off some blasted bureaucrats.

Thanks for the support Matt.

Our taxes on our 17 acres have gone from $400/year when we bought it 25 years ago to $8000/year today. Eventually, we'll sell it and it will become houses, but it's not ready for that yet. The current zoning is 5 acre minimums. 650 feet down the street are 5,000 sq ft housing lots (50x100). I don't retire (again) for another 14 years. By then it should be time to sell and get out. Until then we'll continue to farm it, even if we can't live on it.

You're kidding right!:confused2:
That's unreal, there's no way you can cover that with the farm income you get from it ,unless you grow pot on it.
