BCP,

Have you realized yet that you need to add some weight to the front of your tractor?

I have been pulling a partially loaded dump trailer with my BX2200, which when half loaded the trailer is about 4,000 pounds, and simply keeping the mower deck on made a world of difference up slope. I still sometimes think I should add weight to the front also.

Add a couple hundred pounds to the front of your tractor and enjoy your work more!

Bill

Setting some trusses with a boom pole that I made

/ Small tractors doing big work. #108
Nice.
Did you lift them to the roof with the boom pole?

I use it in conjunction with a winch. I keep the boom mostly vertical with the load close to the ground as I transport the trusses to the wall. Then I use the winch mostly to lift up in to position.

Flat level ground is a must! It can be sketchy if you are off level or lifting much weight. It’s very handy but I’m very cautious. A lot can go wrong quickly with that much leverage.

Found this going through some pictures on my phone. A professional excavator that I know was telling me a technique he used to take down trees so I gave it a try.
I Dig around three sides of tree. Then I pile dirt on top of the fourth side. Then I push the tree over on top of the pile of dirt and it pops the stump out.
It kind of works but my machine is kind of small for that.

It takes a big machine to just push trees over but with techniques like the one above a small machine can get the job done on a very small scale.

I have a 20 hp Jenma (Nortrac) that I bought in 2006 to cut, rake and bale hay 10 acres using a rebuilt JD-9 sickle bar, a 70's era side discharge rake and an international 47 baler. I use a home made spray rig made with a roller pump, 55 gallon drum and what's left of an international spray boom. I brushhog another 10 acres that isn't hayed with it. All of my equipment cost less than $1000 because nobody else wanted it.
