How did you get them up in the truck. Those winches are pretty useful.

I picked up one end then backed the truck under. Then pushed it up. The butt log I couldn't even pick up one end with the tractor so I had to get help. The 4th and up the grapple could pick.

Gordon, I noticed you have the jL 290 winch. J thought I壇 get the 351 if I can ever get one or the uniforest 350. But this is the next size up from yours. You think it痴 too big for a 28 hp. Your tractor has two more hp. Not sure physical dimensions between your tractor and mine, maybe the same.

My last "big" tractor (for a STO guy) was a 1979 JD 4230C diesel 2wd row crop (JD classification), wide front. PTO claimed to be 100 hp. I had implements that could make it snort under the right conditions.

I retired and quit leasing property just running the homestead. I wanted a decked out tractor with all the goodies and the 6530 was a perfect buy. It's rated 57 PTO hp, no idea as to the drawbar. I kept the implements and the 6530 runns them really well.

My take on it is that 4wd is what makes the difference. I can hook up an implement, start to work it, see that I'm getting nowhere, realize that I forgot to engage it, engage it, and off I go. Let's see if I can plug in a picture of one of them:

Our first tractor is a Power King economy. I'll have to see if I can find some pictures. We use it for mowing, has a FEL so all the uses of that, pulled the hay rake (IH16) and clearing land. Wish I had some videos of it but while the wife was using it I was on the JD5103 doing the same thing. Oh and by the way it only has 12HP.

I'm glad you mentioned "abuse" and "limits". I used to autocross a sports car. We rarely understand the limits of the machines we own, and pushing a machine closer to its limits is NOT abuse like going past its limits are. Sure, you might decrease longevity a bit, and sure things might need repairing, but we buy these machines to work, and sometimes a job comes along that is big and we make it work with what we have rather than go out and rent a bigger machine that would make it easier. That's life.

It's easy for others to sit and gripe about something not being handled according to one's preferences and optimized their way.
From their computer chair.
That their dead butts are plopped in.
Behind their keyboard.
While you're out there working.

There's only about a 60 lb difference, and the minimum recommendation for the 351 is only 17HP. If it meets your budget, I would go with the heavier winch. I've run Farmi's, both mine and my father's; I owned and worked the pee out of a Fransgard, and now have a UniForest35. They all are solid pieces of equipment, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of them. All things being equal though I would go with the Farmi or Fransgard.

You have one of those L275? I had to look it up as I'm not familiar with the models. That's similar to those little 7100's etc. What do you use it for? But you have the L3301 also?

Go fund me, there痴 an idea. Why the farmi or fransgard over the uniforest? The uniforest pulls as hard or harder and has much more cable etc. Just curious.

They're a lot simpler. OR it could be just that I am used to them. I took my Fransgard apart many times and am quite familiar with it.
The Uniforest on the other hand has a clutch type brake similar to that of a skidder, vs the ratchet type of the other two. I don't know if it's better, worse, or just different. They all do a good job though, so I would go with whichever you can get the best deal on, or what you can find used.

Does that bx lift that drum pretty easy? What would that whole outfit weigh, 500 lbs? Is that something you made yourself or purchased. Funny you posted as I was thinking of a sprayer like that lately. Or just a water pump possibly, but same idea. Water pump I would have to be near a good source, lake etc.

Have to move a lot of dirt to change the slope of some banks around my pond and at the house, so I can mow them. 5x8 heavy duty dump trailer. Can稚 pull it fully loaded (haven稚 tried) up hill. But with a bit over a one ton load it goes up hill without the front tires lifting off the ground.

Here I am storing top soil to use later.



Not sure why the same photo shows up twice...if it does...both are the same photo.

Also not sure why can?t and haven?t show up funny...

Did you make that trailer? a dump trailer would be pretty handy, especially if you can leave it un hooked, fill it, and back into it and hook up with no trouble. you could move some dirt. We had to fix a washed out section of logging road one time. The road is too hard for fel, at least up here where I live. We would turn around, dig down a foot for about 40 feet from the wash out to the wash out, and turn around and scrape the loose stuff back into the hole. Eventually filling the road back in .

No, I bought it recently. Pretty heavy duty for the size. 4K axle is the limitation.

Frame is 2 x 8 tube. Dump body is aluminum.

BX2200 pulls it pretty well. I could load it full if land was flat, but with slopes and the little tractor I have to limit the load or the front wheels want to leave the ground. Not dangerous as the trailer lack will hit the ground and stop the upward movement. But better to avoid the issue by limiting load.

I bet if you could of now had it, rigged alittle hydraulic pump on it and installed a 3pt. You could use it for double what you did when you had it. I'd love to find an old one like that. What year?

That is a Gibson! I don't know what year my dad's was but I know know that he purchased it in the late 40s after they returned to the Bellingham area following WW2. By the 70's it was starting to suffer from quite a bit of metal fatigue. My dad had suffered from a massive stroke and could not use it any longer. As I recall a Gibson enthusiast who was a pretty good fabricator bought it for parts or restoration.
When I was old enough to start it dad let me use it (12 years old?). It was a beast to start, and would just about break your arm if it backfired! I spent many happy hours repairing pot holes in my folks 1/4 mile driveway.

Not sure. I lowered the position of the hitch ball and the front wheels have stayed on the ground so far, but I may have lightened the load as well. I put my mower deck back on today so I could cut grass that needed it. I think I will leave it on tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.

I do know there is no comparison in pulling between the BX and my B2910. The BX will spin its wheels MUCH sooner than the larger tractor when pulling an implement. I have noticed this mostly when pulling up hill. All four tires on the BX are foam filled so pretty heavy.

My my experience is that the BX will run out of traction well before it runs out of horsepower.

Took me about 40 minutes to pull this from the ground.. Then I put it in the bucket and carried it to the woods..Not!
I did get the bucket under it and scooted it into the woods though.
