Decades ago you used to be able to buy Gumout carburetor cleaner in a can just like SeaFoam. My dad had a "Gumout kit" with a piece of tubing, an adapter for the lid of the can and several fittings to adapt the hose to your carburetor. The kit also came with a hanger that fit around the can so you could hang it upside down from the hood latch like an I.V. bottle. You disconnect the fuel line from the fuel pump and plug it, then install the hose adapter and hang the can from the hood. Start the engine and rev it up a few times and then it would run like a top!

I could testify, seafoam got my craftsman tractor running smoother and improved the gas mileage on it ALOT within 1 tankful, I'm a believer.

I've used Seafoam to avoid having to take carbs apart several times. Stuff works.

I had nothing to do one day and had an old BS push lawn mower, some old weed whackers, and a couple of chain saws sitting around that I thought had outlived their abilities. Amazingly I got all of them running sweet with the stuff.....didn't happen immediately, but as the stuff cut through the carbon and varnish, the engines just kept improving in performance....within an hour give or take of fooling with each. Use it in my outboard motor and zero fuel problems...like didn't touch the carbs for over 10 years and it started and ran like a champ. Not a substitute for 2 stroke engine oil....consider it part of the fuel in the mix ratio, not part of the lube.

I like watching those project farm videos. The op has gotten better and better as he goes, though i'd not consider his yard a farm. I've used seafoam to soak carbs in too, seems to work pretty good.

oops, wrong thread.

I've personally have had fuel gel up using Howe's. Looking at that stuff he drug out of the freezer I would say all of them would have made a tractor not run correctly. I think kerosene is the way to go mixed with your fuel plus an additive.
