Anthony Mundine - Now there is a true clown. I'd prefer Steve Irwin to "The Man" any day.

Now I have been very restrained on TBN by not referring to our US friends as "Yanks"

But now you have started it, I had batter make up for all the yanks I have missed.

yank yank yank yank
yank
yank yank

yank

Oh and 1 more

yank

Hey tell me, where does the term "Yank" come from anyway guys?

You guys are affectionately referred to as "Septics" over here too - You know Septic Tank - Yank?? /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Anyway, we loves yous all (In the words of a true fighter - Jeff Fenech)

Cheers

So Neil, you've heard who the popular Australians are in the US. Who are the popular Americans down under? I've always found it interesting travelling overseas to see who/what is trendy among the locals. Our visit to your land was easy due to the language. It's hilarious watching American TV programs (usually older shows) dubbed over in non-english speaking countries /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Neil,

I've been thinking about this snake thing and the natural predators. It's a long shot, but is it possible that the snakes are so poisonous that they've killed and eaten all the predators? /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Well Jerry Seinfeld is my favourite, and we all sighed when he decided to pull the plug on his show.

All the kids love Britney Spears (And some of the older, tractor driving ones too /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif)

Rap and baseball caps and all that gang type stuff with the baggy pants and stuff is creeping in WAY TOO FAST over here for my liking.

Can't think of any other stand outs, but most of our sitcom type TV shows are all from the US, very few brittish ones.

Most of our culture in recent times has been subject to the US influence.

Cheers

Yep probably. Nothing in the glossy brochure about predators.

I really can't think of any of our wildlife that eats snakes. Dead snakes yes, but not sure too many would go a live one.

It is a scary concept you have raised.

If you don't here from me for a while on TBN it is because I, like many predators before me, have fallen victim to a snake /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Say, I did hear a statistic the other day though, that you are more likely to die from a coconut falling on your head at the beach than from a shark attack while in the water.

Much like the snakes, very few folk are killed by snakes.

Cheers

I believe yank is short for yankee, which northerners were called by southerners during the civil war in the late 1800's. Why?? I don't know. I also have heard the British refer to us as yanks as well. That's all I know. Maybe someone can add some more???

I just went to alta vista and did a search for "origin of the word yankee" and it came back with this great explaination. Looks like an interesting site.

Oh well, so it appears you won't take offense if I/we call you yanks anyway.

I hope so
