I'm a little worried about this big storm coming at us. It will probably dump over a foot up in the hills. My tractor will be buried. I may have to wait till spring to get it moving again.

Nah, it will just require a lot of digging...I'll take the girlfriend along (smile)

I'm in north idaho and I was all excited about la nina. It has turned out to be a disappointment. We have had snow but it only last couple of days before the rain washes it away. Its cold now, -5, but calling for rain this weekend.

im just south of you an hour or so....coeur d'alene. ya, this winter has sucked...for us here.... all the pre storm season hype. were use to snow up here, but you wouldn't believe it listening to the local news people....if there's an inch falling, they had news crews on location. reall kinda sad considering. ive already put away all the winter toys...but the wife insists i keep the snowblower mounted to the tractor just incase.

Wade, Hate to tell ya, you need a bigger Kioti.

Thought of you the other day as I was pushing 18"+ inches of snow with my loader down through the back path to the lower pasture effortlessly. I would back up after several hundred feet and blow out what remained.

Well Saturday has passed - don't keep us in suspense... where are the pics?

Hi Lloyd

Are you guys getting lots down there as well? I don't know about getting a bigger tractor, someone here said that a smaller tractor will do the same job ...just takes longer. I'm really amazed at what that little tractor will do. The only real way to deal with snow like this is a snowblower.

I found the best method was to push the snow as far as I could, back up, push the top of the pile a little further then scoop up the bottom and dump it over the top of the pile. Eventually I had to scoop up snow and dump it off to the side as the pile got too big. I really had fun learning what worked and didn't work. I only had to dig myself out at the begining. I've never used R4 tires so i can't compare but the farm tread worked great with no additional weight other than the box blade full of snow and ice.

The first pic is what I found fri morning when I got there, the next is my daughter and her husband where I finally called it quits for the day (beautiful dog ..eh), next is my cabin in its winter splendor and then a pic of the path I made going down the hill to my cabin.

thats what our snow depth usually looks like this time of the year...luckily this year you guys got all our snow :licking:... especially as i dont have a snowblower yet for my new tractor. i must say though....i LOVE the heated cab...i spoil real fast. it looks like it took longer to dig the tractor out than do the work..... i think your tractor is calling out......please build me a nice barrrrrn. have fun playing in the snow.

I guess anywhere near mountains must just get buried. I was out west in Jan and guys were telling me that on Mt washington (Vancouver Is) there is upwards of 15 ft of snow. I don't kow if I absolutely believe them but I know they get a ton of snow up there because it rains all winter further south.

Normally I cover it with a tarp. That was where it got stuck and I was too tired to dig it out and the tarp was way off in the woods so I just left it. It is all covered up now.

I think with a snowblower a cab would be a must, snow just blow back so fast sometimes, you're covered before you can change the chute position.

with that much snow...ya i agree with a snowblower. my current one has hydraulic chute rotation.....alot easier on my back.

Hey Wade,

Great shots! NICE cabin. I may go up to mine this weekend but I have to snow shoe in with a sled behind filled with support items :)!

I do the same as you. Knock the top off and remove bottom and dump. Sometimes if I am not 100% sure what is below the snow I use the bucket. It is snowing now as I write. Last week was our first "real" snow of the year. I did three days back to back snow blowing and plowing. I am not complaining. We need the snow for next years water table/well.

I could have bought a 55 for slightly more than the 45hp... awesome deal. But, with the areas I have to maneuver around I glad I got the smaller unit.

We were only advised we were going to receive 5cm but by the looks of things there is at least 5-7 down and it is still snowing. The snow shot was taken a few minutes ago...
