Kubota B-26
I recently purchased the Kubota B26, the bucket is ok for moving snow piles, but would prefer a plow setup for my road, something with an angle shift capability. My machine is equipped the the skid steer quick connect, what is the best way to proceed?

I have just found the curtis model , which looks really handy, but $2500 is a bit steep! anything else?

Have you looked at the Kubota setup? Pricing but it sure looks super nice. I just use the FEL and a RB. Not the best, but it works for me.

I have a 6 1/2' Curtis Snowplow mounted on my B2910. They have a quick attach for their plows. Works very well. Going to get touse it this morning. We have over 10" of fresh snow this morning.

Are you looking to simply buy a solution or are you willing to do some customization (welding) to significantly reduce the cost of your solution?

Either answer is fine, but the answers will be both different in direction as well as price.

I would expect a pre-built solution to be $3K+ while transforming a used pickup plow could cost well under $500 (including all parts including the plow)

This may be an opportunity to purchase a welder or other tools and still come out saving money.

As I said, either direction is fine and there will be many answers regardless of which direction you are leaning.

i just picked up a kubota 2019 plow from a dealer that had it in stock (stored) for 5 years -- wanted to get rid of it, and i got it installed for 1/3 their regular asking price.

you can't beat a setup done right -- :D

Eric: I thought any equipment you use had to be construction sized. After all you've used in the last year a little plow will seem very tame.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll probably go through this winter using the FEL and figure out a new game plan for next year. The Curtis model would be my first choice but I'll have to pick up a few paying plow jobs to justify the cost, I looked at the Payne clamp on model, I worry it wouldn't hold up well for heavy snow fall. If I get time this summer, I'll consider a home made rig, I have a good friend who is a welder:rolleyes:

As one of the previous posters mentioned if you are handy (or have some handy friends) you can modify a truck plow. It's basically a 6.5' Myers 4 way hydraulic snowplow (made for trucks) that the previous owner made a tractor mount for. I just have to take off the loader (about 5 minutes) and then take off the brush guard and install the plow mount (about an hour). It works pretty well. The only drawback is that I'm not in a warm truck cab but I just dress for the weather and all is good...

I'm on my 4th season with this setup.

It does require drilling 4 mounting holes in the bucket but total cost is around $1,200

It will handle alot of snow and you can stack it very high!!

I've got the quick attach bucket on mine too, I questioned the the previous owner why didn't do a setup like yours? He said that the was afraid that with the blade out that far it would push the tractor around too much (possibly bending the loader arms)? Do you have any problems with that? I know that even with mine real close to the tractor, if I have the blade angled and I catch the ground it pushes me off to the side....

Yes, when angled and if I hit something solid it will push the tractor sideways. It will even do that on a full size 4x4 pickup. You can go with a smaller blde lenght. Remember this that if your tractor goes sideways something is NOT got to break. When plowing your own property you should know when all the obstacles are.

Is that an L or M tractor? With that solid link you must have to float your bucket all the time. I had my like that for a bit but change it so that I did not have all the weight of the FEL on the blade.

I echo the idea of using an old pickup truck plow set up. I purchased a 1979 F350 with a 8' Fisher plow and broken transmission for $300. I removed the plow and frame, and sold the truck for $250 in scrap. I used the Skid Steer frame from the skid steer forks that I had. I removed the forks and welded on two small pieces of angle with the 3 holes for mounting the ears of the Fisher plow set up. I connected the frame of the plow to the frame of the skid steer plate with a chain to allow it to float.

Set up looks like Blueberryman's setup with a chain instead of the red cross bar. (Blueberryman: nice job)

I can send photos as I do not know how to post them.

We have had 5 feet of snow since Thanksgiving and this setup works great. Snow piles that are now 10 feet high.

$50 for the plow and frame
$10 in 3 inch angle
$20 in welding rod
$240 in hoses to run from the rear remotes to the front of the loader.
Skid Steer fork lift frame (No charge: $200 to buy a Skid steer frame)
Welder (No charge)
Time (No charge)
$320 total

Is the linkage setup on this very strong? it looks as though it would be easy to tweak if you caught up on something.

deerlope, Mine's an M5040 150 hrs on it. I do float the plow sometimes

I think that if you take that soilid link out and use a chain you will like it better. True you will not be able to apply any down pressure but after things get frozen really good take the plow shoes off.
