Hi everybody Im new here but neet stuf your working on. I was on a machinist forum and found a man who has made a program to tell you how to lay out your flighting to cut them out so they will fit what you want.(and it works) Here is a address for the download(free) http://www.geocities.com/mklotz.geo/
You are making a washer and spliting one side and then streching it out like a spring and weld up. good day all

Made a bit of progress. Here's a pic of the housing. The rolled angle iron pcs are tacked on each end. I have made two more that will go in there approx mid-span sometime. Also visible is the cutting edge, plug welded and edge welded on.

A bit more progress. Most of the housing is complete. Here is a pic showing the housing settig next to the John Deere Quick Hitch on the front of my 4100. The snowblower drivetrain is being mocked up here also.

Made some good progress this weekend. Here is a shot of the unit so far. Mostly drive train details left yet.

I have to tell you that years ago I watched a snowblower being constructed in the metal shop of my old high school. I'm not saying how many years ago that was but back then I was amazed at the amount of work that went into that blower.

Still it was no match for the blower that you're currently putting together. Thanks for sharing the project with us from start to finish.

Yea, its a ton of work. About ten days ago, 5 weekends into the main project, I was really getting sick of it. This last week has been more final assembly and drive train components, so it is a lot more fun.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Driveline is coming along well now. Will finish enough to actually test run on Saturday morning. I needed a driveshaft for use between the tractor and the gearbox, with u-joints and the proper coupler. On a hunch, I called the JD dealer. they had one that sounded close to what I needed, leftover from something. I went there and measured it, sure enough- perfect fit! Lucky break. I put my shear pin in the lovejoy coupler you see in the middle area of the attached pic. This location ensures that when/if it shears, nothing falls apart, the lovejoy half is still captivated in place.
