So I got a good deal on some trusses...

After going over the entire slab about 4 times with the first power float, they changed out to the power finishing float. You can see the difference in finishes as he works the drying concrete with the power finishing float.

Finally, the truck shows and the front apron gets poured. Thankfully it wasn't too hot and sunny, and since we kept it moist, the concrete laid earlier hadn't set up much. Phew! And, I don't even want to know how much that screw up cost somebody, I had a fixed price!

Some folks opt not to do this, but all my aprons got the 'brushed' treatment. Hitting the concrete deck hurts a lot more the older you get, so it sure seemed to make sense to me.

After a few hours, the concrete was set up enough to begin removing the pour forms. That is one thick slab!

After finishing smooth, the slab was sealed with Kure-n-Seal 25 while still green. This allows the sealer to penetrate and bond with the floor.

The sealer is applied with a short nap lambswool roller. Boy, does it stink. I can't imagine using this product in an enclosed basement pour for example. Talk about a buzz...

How's that for a nice floor, eh? These guys really knew what they were doing and I would have absolutely no hesitation giving them referrals. I am very pleased with the results.

Here's the front apron, you can see how thick everything is in this pic. I don't think that slab is going anywhere anytime soon.

After touching up with TopBond and sealing the front apron edge, we screwed the 2x4 back in place to protect the front edge until fully cured. Total job time was 9:00am - 4:00pm, and they didn't stop once until I put out pizza and beer at 3:00. Great hard-working guys.
