So what happened to the thread on the 2008 Kubota's??

While I agree in principle that dealers, sales, engineering and manufacturing have advanced information regarding the next years product line. (I design equipment protected by patents for a living) Kubota should learn that the internet can spread rumors very quickly and that the smallest leak can be a front page news item in a matter of minutes. Anyone remember Steve Kemper and "IT" AKA Segway for 2001? I was on the design team for over two years prior to that release. I know that secrets can be maintained even amongst a large design and release team (including suppliers), but once the cat is out of the bag, new and different rules need to be applied to the situation.

Trying to remove the data only makes the information that much more prone to rumors.

For what it is worth, I hope Messickfarmequ. does not get hammered too hard by Kubota corp. for the postings.

It seems to me that getting an early glimse into the 2008 botas only increased the interest in their product.........Many companies leak like this on purpose to build hype.

If a post is inappropriate then it should be removed, but to get rid of several threads doesn't serve any purpose other than to create discord.

Isn't the purpose of this and any forum to discuss, debate and generally gain information about the forum topic?

The problem is, not all the salesman and dealers for Kubota were at this meeting. So when people come on here and read about these new items they run to their dealer to ask about them. If their dealer couldn't make the meeting or the salesman have not been informed the customer gets upset over the lack of "knowledge" on their dealers part. This is only to help the dealers and the customers.

Neil won't get into any trouble since he removed it when requested. If he was to deny their request then he might not be posting here anymore and you will be seeing his Avatar on the back of milk jugs:rolleyes:

And as I said before, all the OEM's have similar practices regarding new equipment releases. John Deere is like Kubota but CNH can be very harsh if you don't play by the rules while they make them up as they go. Buhler doesn't really worry much as he doesn't have too many new model intros and Agco doesn't worry much as they love the free publicity as long as it is favorable. And just to clarify, most of the OEM's make up these rules as they go along because the way information is being spread is constantly changing also.

John Deere got upset when some people took pics of their prototype cotton picker/baler while flying over an extremely secluded field in an airplane. They then posted the photos for all the world to see and speculate about. This is similar to the auto industry masking their new vehicles until the public release.

Now about that new RTV, dump bed or not? What is so secret about that. I'll go find a dealer that can answer that question. Maybe they will get my business, maybe not. In any case, perhaps going to a dealer is a good thing? I may buy something else at that visit. Or at least better the relationship.

If you have a dealer owner that does not show up or send a rep from his company to a meeting as important as this one must have been, he SHOULD look like moopey the mope to his customer for not having the info.
If messicks takes the time and energy and expense to show up at the meeting and report back to us inquiring minds then they deserve the sales that they can generate from his postings. What Messicks does is called going above and beyond. If a customer reports back on a CSI report that he is completley satisfied, that doesen't make him a loyal customer. That customer needs to be enthusastic also about the product and experience. From what I can see thats the differance from Messicks and their competition.
The way kubota is acting on these new models and how they respond to customer issues with their product GREEN is looking better to me.
Now how enthusastic am I about Kubota? How enthusastic am I about Messicks?
Let me put my soap box away

I have been to dealers that not only were at the meeting but also had books on their racks and STILL DIDNOT have a clue what I was asking about. So this defense is probably not a good one. We all know some dealers that are just not up to par.

But if Kubota was trying to gain sales hype and exposure for their upcoming line it worked here :D :D

Literalty all but maybe a dozen dealers across the US go to the meeting, many salespeople too. Its very well attended. We all have the information that was posted, literature, pricing, etc. If you want to know now just call your local dealer. There is no gag order not to talk about the new equipment, but apparently right now for some reason its all too hot for the internet.

It would be nice to hear from 'Bota corporate on this thread since apparently they monitor it. Come on boys, what's your position?

I think the real problem is in Neil's original thread he referred to the L4400 as an ECONOMY tractor on the BUYING forum. They are suppose to be called "STANDARD L" before you buy 'em. The ECONOMY reference is only allowed on the OWNERS forum. :D
