I got to spend a few hours this afternoon sighting in a scope on the muzzle loader. Also will be trying a new bullet this year, a 250gr Hornady SST in 45 caliber in a 50cal sabot. Our deer population has taken such a hit in recent years I was not sure I was going to hunt at all, but the only deer hunting I do is to put some red meat on the table of the landowner. I donate them all the meat every year and all I have taken is hides. Tomorrow the blind will be moved into position and I will rake a path clear of leaves to allow quiet entry.

I was given an opportunity to hunt a second property, same arrangement as above, but it will be in the late season since it is family first during "gun season" Nov 15-Nov 30. The owner is an older lady who is not going to do any hunting herself but would like some grass fed free range meat... The topography on this second parcel is wild, it is all ridgelines and washouts with wooded slopes and 5 foot high prairie grass.... Honestly, I have NO IDEA how the deer will be moving around on that property. On Dec 1 after the son has left, I will set out some trail cameras and try to get an idea of what is going on. if there is snow it will be even better, but I no longer know what to expect after the last 3 winters with almost no snow in SE Michigan...

What's the story on the moose? I've been to Alaska to hunt moose twice without getting one. I've seen a few shooter bulls, but never where I could get to them and I've had easy opportunities on smaller bulls that I let go because I wanted something big enough for the wall.

I didn't see a single thing yesterday, but this morning two coyotes where out feeding on the remains of the hog I shot a couple days ago. All that's left is the head and hide, but it's still enough that they can't drag it away. The picture showing it eating on the carcass is probably 400 yards away in low light. I love my camera!!!!! I put a sneak on them that required some crawling through the mud that got me to about a hundred yards for an easy shot. The second one took off away from me and I took the shot and knocked it down. It got back up and ran farther away into the trees where I took another shot just as it entered the trees. I think it was a miss, but it felt good, so who knows. We haven't found it yet, but my guess is that it won't last very long from a 165 grain bullet from my 30-06.

I'm guessing he weighs around 30 pounds, which is about normal for an adult coyote around here.

I'm a recent entry into hunting. Only being doing it for about 5 years. I have always loved being outdoors and this is a very natural extension. I was hunting yesterday with a friend. We passed on a young spiker buck and a few does...since this was a bonus day as I'm taking a week off soon

If the weather is bad, I'll just hang out at my house and try to get this guy during legal hunting hours

Good job Eddie:thumbsup: Now only 1000 to go!!! I'm think'n 400 yards is doable, but I know how you Marines are:laughing: Good job Brother!!

Guys, I've seen Eddies "wall" and he is being modest, of course the photos don't do them justice either. I dont think I would like to write the check to harvest Eddies wall:laughing:

I have had "offers and opportunity" to hunt Africa, but unfortunately it never interested me, actually from what my friends say, it is the most affordable hunt if you go "international".

I have spoke with Jim Shockey about a Yukon moose hunt, super guy and great show, but the cost is way to high for me, around 20-24k after all said and done.
