Got not much willingness from the kubota/NH dealer. By lack of effort and attitude IF and WHEN the sales numb-skull was in SO, went to the local Deere dealer they said no problem, I'll even match the kubota/NH dealers price, fill the rears AND deliver it today.... I says SOLD:D And the finance options were better anyhow....

I have a JD 737 zero turn and I love it. When I went to buy a tractor I was only thinking green. Until I was waylayed with the price difference. It must be way different in other parts of the country, because its way more than 10percent here. I love the jd's but it was $6000 more for the same size tractor. I hope I don't regret my decision later. If I though I was going to resale any time soon I probably would have bought green because of their resale. But I'll probably keep my NH forever. I do love that green paint though.

Something no one has mentioned.... JDParts is worth a pile to me. I do all my own work and the parts breakdowns have incalculable value. None of the other tractor makers have anything close to it.

We were all deere (11) of them back in the 70's and have run a mixed bag ever since . On the older tractors (20,30,40 series) it was poor hydraulics that was the most annoying and the large amount of draught 3pt work that was not as good with the lower link sensing on the deeres .
Been away from deeres for a while but rented a 8120 last year and still did'nt seem as good a tractor as equivalent magnum in many ways , Resale might be slightly more with a deere but i don't see the point in paying more for something that is'nt right for the job.
Have favoured ford over the years amongst others but i think for new today it would have to be MF .

Very good point! I was in the used market and had all intentions of buying a Kubota seeing as I have an excellent dealer within 2 miles of my house. Then along came an individual with a Deere at a good price. I am now testing the coexistance of green & orange.

I have several pieces of green and have found it to be good sturdy equipment. The problem I have with John Deere is that they have some of the sorriest owner and equipment instruction manuals I have ever seen. If you are a novice purchasing a new piece of John Deere and rely on the manual for instructions, you will be lost. I have features on equipment that is not listed in the manual and was a self learn on how it functioned. This in my opinion is a black eye for who ever prepares or proof reads the manuals/instructions for John Deere.

All things being equal (which, of course they never are) Deere equipment should be within 5% of most competitors in regards to pricing. I know we all hear about how much more expensive "green" is but, in my experience, a reputable JD dealer is not going to be very far off from the competition - but, we must compare apples to apples, which is not always done.

5% of $25,000 is $1,250. That's a lot of lunches. Or maybe an implement or two, depending on what you get, & new or used.

Of course, Kubota owner here :D

I started out really wanting a green tractor. Figured it'd be safest to go with the brand everybody knows. Resale would probably be better. And I've never much liked the color orange anyway.

But my local JD dealer (there's only 1 within any reasonable distance) didn't have a real good selection on the lot IMO, & just wanted to sell me one of those, several of which were models that had been on the lot a loooong time ... which didn't interest me. I went in 3 separate times, but just wasn't getting a good vibe.

Then I stopped by the much, much smaller Kubota dealer's lot ... & his lot was jammed with a great selection of the full range of their models! And, not a one had that "I've been blistering out in the sun on this lot a looong time" look like at JD. It seemed like every time I'd go home & scour their webite, then go back in & ask if they had this model or that, they always did.

Then I started really digging into the websites, brochures, & specs of both, & Kubota's just made a lot more sense to me. Very logical. And Kubota's seemed to have more bells & whistles, which appeals to me.

Finally, the Kubota salesman just seemed to be (& still does) a regular family guy, who lives on 5 acres, near me as it turns out, has an old 80's Kubota himself, knows Kubota's inside & out, was a Kubota service man who was basically forced into sales by the owner ... & then I found out he goes to my mom's church. No pressure from this guy whatsoever. OTOH, the JD salesman, while helpful, informative, willing to discuss, etc., seemed a whole lot more like a car salesman.

(Oh, & seemed all but one of the JD models I was interested in were turbo's, which I didn't want)

Seems some respond without reading the title of the thread, or the OP.

But guess they want to get their oar in the water...:D No offense meant to anyone.

I just am glad their are choices of brands that have the quality and value to invest our money into, as there are places around the world where you take what you can get. Here we have blue, red, orange, green, and more to pick from.

Deere has been in my family beginning with my father in the 30's and is my choice for quality and value when I want to trade up for another green tractor. The dealers near me included one who has been exceptional, although he was too good to his customers and bent over so far for them he couldn't get straightened back up. The dealer is now one with several dealerships and less concerned with customer perks. But still very helpful and supportive.
