For a lot of the reasons already stated.
For sure because of the strong parts support. Here in the Pacific Northwest the Deere regional parts distribution center is in Oregon which means we can have most any parts to our dealer and to me within 24 hours of a problem, if for some reason it's not in stock locally.
Another reason for me (not that the parts thing was good enough) is my dealer is half a mile away, the salesman is my next door neighbor and the entire neighborhood is green!

I like JD and currently own a 4700 with FEL and backhoe, however this year I was looking for something bigger to add to the stable and just could not cut a deal on the JD. Maybe the economy and the JD dealer was more concerned with his bottom line than mine? Ended up with a McCormick C80L with FEL for a LOT less than anything JD could offer me. No regrets thus far!

That is pretty funny, realistic as all tractors do/ will break & practical, but funny ... or maybe ironic is the word?

I usually try to be respectful of forums of other colors, so all I'll say here is...
It's just unfortunate how many decisions - of any color - seem to be determined by the dealer personnel you interface with. JD dealer closest to me has a few jacka**** for salesmen, which isn't why I bought a Kubota tractor, but they did knock themselves out of the running when we were shopping for ZTRs.
Dealers, are you paying attention???
On the bright side, if so many decisions really are determined by dealer experience, then you what you could take away is that the different equipment must really be pretty comparable.
It's just unfortunate how many decisions - of any color - seem to be determined by the dealer personnel you interface with.
