Now that is a great idea.

An alternative to buying him a new set of tools is purchase some florescent orange hobby enamel paint and rub into the stamped numbers on the sockets and wrenches. Wipe off any excess. It make the sizes show up really well.

Dad use to take steel wool and scuff up the sockets and then spray paint them. He would paint the entire socket so if some paint came off they were still easy to identify. He would use 6 different colors and had a color chart on the tool box but once you got use to the color code you didn't need it.

Hi,

A few years back, I purchased a set of stick on labels for sockets and wrenches that are bright and easy to read. My Father In Law was having the same problem. I will try to track them down. In the meantime you might do a web search for them. As I recall once they were put on a clean surface it took a small army to get them off.

Thanks, Joe

Hi Everyone,

I found the company that makes the stick-on labels that I used. The website is STEELLABELS.com. They offer lots of different options. I believe these will do the job quite well.

Hope this helps everyone,
