I am sure some borrowing of "idea" goes on in between the brands... They say there is no such thing as coincidence...
The good companies invent new ideas and the great companies copy those ideas and sell them for more profit and produce it in China...
IIRC, the M1 and Fram are still made in the USA... now some KN's are "hecho en Mexico"

I also use Rotella T6 5W-40 Synthetic. Just bought 6 gallons online which will cover my next several oil changes. I document all my fluid changes just to be safe while under warranty. Synthetic is safe to use after your break in period but conventional oil is cheaper. I paid $21.36 a gallon for the synthetic so wasn't that bad a price.
Also bought 6 - 80 oz. bottles of Power Service ($13.33 ea.) on Amazon.

Exactly why I buy Fram, Baldwin or AC Delco - all USA made. If its not made here in Canada, or USA I wont buy it unless my hand is forced.

The dealer is an oil idiot. Use a 0w30 or 5w30. Only place I've been able to get such is at the VW dealership. Found out Mobil 1 has an ESP (exhaust system protection) 0w30 diesel oil online. Will probably order it for the next oil changes on tractor and generator.

Good advice re fairly easily obtained and good oil. The stores don't seem to stock hardly any xw30 oils for diesels. I plan to order some Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 for my next changes.

My GC1715 manual says oil to use when changing oil recommended to be 10w-30 API CC certified. Sounds good doesn't it? But API CC is supposedly an outdated certification as of 2009 when I look it up on the internet. I didn't find any API CC oils.
I bought some full synthetic Mobil Delvac 1 ESP Diesel engine oil in a 5w-40 with certifications CJ-4 and several other cert. Opinions about this choice as a substitute ???
Great oil choice. Also, I prefer Wix filters due to quality, cost and availability. No Frams for me.

If manual states API CC, then any other oil specification that is later is acceptable.... IE: CD, CE, CF, CG and so on....
Actually what it is not saying but actually is a API of CC or newer rating superseded the CC...
