To elaborate a bit. I am a retired truck driver. The main truck I drove seemed quiet but after an 11 hour day I had times when I could barely hear. Probably high or low pitched noises I could not detect. I couldn't legally wear ear protection but did anyway, wearing ear plugs and, after dark, noise canceling ear phones over the ear plugs. Fortunately most of my driving was across South Dakota and Wyoming on I-90 at night so very, very little traffic.

Couldn't agree more! I am concerned about the low pitch noises that seem to rebound all over the place. Even when I wear ear protection it seems like it might echo more for some reason. And I am certainly not going to turn up the radio to make it "seem" better. Thanks mike

I've been wondering about the same thing. Floor is good - starting out with a thin rubber layer, then 2 density foam intended to absorb different frequency ranges, topped off by the molded urethane top. The rest sucks. There is a thin rubber grommet where the steering shaft goes into the engine compartment - on mine the grommet doesn't completely cover the hole and it pops out of place providing a direct sound path. The seat pan - nothing. After using good technology to dampen noise through the floor mat they seem to totally ignore that area. Its better than the open platform but can't hold a candle to our larger tractors.

My thoughts exactly! The floor has some good covering as you described, but everything else is pathetic. Great tractor, but a little attention in the area of noise control would make a huge difference and would not have a significant impact on cost. My plan is to work on the seat pan area and the headliner to stop some of the echoing. Regular pink insulation and dense foam for the headliner and some dynamat like material for the seatpan area.

Hope it works because I feel like I am going deaf.

Almost sounds like you might want to visit a high end audio shop for some acustical sound absorbing material...might be pricey, but might be worth it too.

sonex

expensive but good.

besically expensive 'egg crate' and other 'stripe' pattern HD foam.

Sonex is going to be a bit too thick. The Dynamat would be more appropriate. I suggest a pair of these [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-ANC7B-Noise-Cancelling-Closed-Back-Headphones/dp/B002HWJT1A"]headphones[/ame]. They do wonders on an airplane and are quite comfortable. Don't even need to run music through them if you don't want to, but you will!
