4k loss to them? or to you?
For me it would have been even more but the dealer let me return the pallet forks I bought for testing and over $400 in filters and oil.

The dealer really came through and is buying the tractor back. It's about a 4k loss. Hopefully, we can find something quickly; only JD, Kubota, Massey, and Yanmar are close to where we live; Kioti is over an hour away.
Which dealership are you leaning toward? I'm surprised a new tractor needs attention at all for the first thousand hours. Have you considered a lease with option?

Now that you've been through a few roughly similar tractors, I'm curious what are the lessons learned and what is the next step....

It is good to hear that you got the issue resolved. On the other hand I will miss your updates on this tractor. Good luck on your next tractor, what ever brand it may be. Thanks John

I'm at a loss now, but the 4075r would have been great if they could figure out what was wrong. Mine was delivered with many issues, and the loader was not lifting near spec. I was out and stopped by the Kubota today, but when asked about the L6060 lift capacity, they were unsure about lifting the pallets. I think the HST+ would be great on the steep hills here. They recommended the M6060, which I did a test drive. I may go by the Kioti dealer. They said the nx6010 is hard to find, but I know it will have no issues lifting pallets. He said they had the new 7340 with the electronic 3-point, like the JD, but I cannot tell the exact weight with the loader and filled tires. VA has a 26001 lb limit before medical and CDL. Even if your trailer is empty, you still get large fines if the gross vehicle/trailer weight exceeds that. The largest trailer I can tow is 14k to stay under that limit.

I've had Kubota, Deere, Ford and flirted with IH. Originally, I wanted all Deere but when I had a problem with the draft control on a new 90 HP Deere, the dealer took the tractor in but it was in the exact spot I left it when I came back a couple times. I'm pretty sure they never looked at it. The problem didn't get fixed until I fixed it myself. I realized then that if I ever needed them they wouldn't be there.

So I bought Kubotas from a nice dealer and so far only little issues that they did more than they should to make me happy. I'm slowing down now and selling stuff but Kubota worked for me because the tractors rarely had issues and when they did, the dealer jumped through hoops to keep me happy. They even drove a part out to me on a Saturday despite my saying not to. But, I beat the rain that day.

The dealer makes it all work but the manufacturer has to sell enough tractors to keep the business profitable. You have to buy from a manufacturer that sells a lot of tractors and is able to support a dealer network for service and sale. Smaller brands often can't catch up.

The hard part is finding any brand in stock and examining the cabs and their layouts. The 7340 was a nice-looking tractor, but after adding up the weights, it would require a CDL unless I bought a bumper-pull aluminum trailer 24ft or less. I'm looking at the 2860m and NS6010; there is about a 10k difference with similar builds. Finance rates are very close between the two. I have never sat in a Massey, but no one near me as ns6010 or 2860m.

Good call with the NS vs NX... The NX is pointlessly complex IMO, I guess even a used kioti DK40/45/50SE is pretty cheap lifting power. The Kioti's need 1000lb+ of ballast on the back to use the loader near its max safely, and I have lifted up the back end with the curl even with the ballast on...

On paper, I tend to lean towards the 2860m, but no one within a 2-hour range has either tractor for me to look at. When they loaned me the 4044m/400e to take deliveries, no cab, and it felt very light behind the truck. I added my big mower on the back and added another 600 lbs to that. It lifted over 2000 lbs and was very steady. I will get the backhoe for whichever one I go with; I like the specs on the BH85 backhoe vs the Massey 75, but I am waiting on the dealer to see if he can get that for me.

I like the weight on the 2860m more, a 1 ton pallet is a lot!
Maybe I don't have your story straight? But I don't think I would deal with the same dealer that cost you $4k for a broken tractor with 17 hrs on it? With a relatively simple problem to diagnose? Seems they are too big to care, or too dumb, or too greedy, to get your old tractor right?
IMO, JD has so many pieces of equipment, made by so many different manufacturers, how many good techs does a dealer need to have someone in the shop that can work on your tractor with any experience? I'm not saying smaller brands are always better, but they have much fewer tractor models to figure out, and usually they are designed by the same engineering team.
Personally, unless you dealer just refunds all your money on the old tractor, I'm not giving them another chance to mess up at my cost again....

You are correct. Quick overview: It spent seven days at one dealer, and then a tech spent another two days at the property before taking it to another dealer. All troubleshooting stopped when the new pump was worse off than the old pump. They did not know where to start next, so they opened a ticket with JD to get further instructions. One dealer wanted a special sensor kit for all the hydraulic connections. I'm interested in the YT359c as well; my prior 55hp struggled to pull the mower on them. Would the drive system in that pull better on the hills vs HST? I'm thinking of asking that in the Yanmar forums.
