Muhammad
With all the bad press the Internet has been getting./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif It isn't hard to see why some don't want to post any more than they have to sign on. But it sure would be nice to have a little more information. Maybe there could more required fields in order to register. It makes it a lot easier to respond to some when you have a profile that shows location, experience and tractor model./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Well, ejb, I certainly fit into the crazy class, for more reasons than mentioned here, but I'm not asking everybody to post anything that would give away anything too personal. Your profile, in fact, is a great example of what I'd like to see more of. Just the information that would be of interest to fellow tractor owners. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

It takes some time to figure how much should be revealed and what is being used for what purpose. The this forum doesn't seem to have a history of people going off the handle and launching viruses against those with differing opinions etc. The board might not be what it appears either. Could be a front for a tractor marketing company; maybe somebody has marketing exec in their profile and just reads the board and sells the satistics to the tractor manufacturers. You never know. Demographics sell. It does, however, take time to evaluate all this. In the mean time, we can learn stuff and have some fun. Maybe when I hit silver. I'm sure more posts will reveal all secrets!!/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gifSteveV

I'm with you Harv, I think that at least the basics should be filled out. But to each his or her own.

Ok... I was (probably still am) one of the "culprits"... I am concerned about privacy. However, I did just fill in some more info because I too like to read about other posters.

Now, something for Muhammad... Why only 250 chars for the bio? (500 chars for the signiture seems like overkill...) Then, after I get an error (because of too many chars) I do a "back page" and all my info I entered is gone (including other fields)... So, I'd like to suggest two things: (1) more chars for bio (500?) and (2) data saved on "page back" when error occurs...

Billboe -

Now I feel bad if you felt like a "culprit". By no means did I intend to classify members with blank profiles as criminals. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif I was just curious about any reluctance to give away some general, meaningful information to the board about things which are not particularly personal or private.

Guess I'm preaching to the choir at this point, since you have now filled in the very information I was referring to. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Speaking of that, I now see that you live in the same general part of the country I do, and are in the same general business I am. You also have some way cool equipment, use them on the same kind of terrain that I do, and you have tons of experience doing it.

You're on my hot list fer sure, Dude! (See? I know I can talk Californian to you now. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif)

p.s. Not to press my luck here, but about what altitude is your property?

Yes, I suppose we could up the field limits in the profiles for the next upgrade... should be soon.

Duuuuuuuude... Now we're talkin'...

Not sure about all that much experience... Driving an articulated Cat loader isn't quite the same as trying to level a piece of ground with a box scraper! But, I guess I do have the "big toy" thing in my blood... Oh, and about those 1000 hours... Very few of them were put on by me! All my stuff is used!!!

p.s. Not to press my luck here, but about what altitude is your property?

ok... now you're really getting personal! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif We're at about 1800'...

Thanks, Billboe! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

The altitude question was just so's I could better picture your tractorin' environment. My tractor property is around 2,000 feet, so I think I have a pretty good idea of your terrain now.

about those 1000 hours... Very few of them were put on by me!

That raises an interesting question for Muhammad -- does the Total Hours field of the profile refer to the hours on the meter (possibly multiple meters), or is it meant to be a measure of the total seat time of the member him/herself? I tossed a coin and decided it was the latter. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif
