This is a brand new hydraulic spool valve float spring that is terribly corroded. What are the repair options? Can the corrosion be removed; leaving the spring serviceable? Can the spring be replaced? Asking for a friend!

If it were me, I would just clean it up. Spay some light oil (WD40?) And wire wheel it. Get it cleaned up the best it can be and reinstall. Try to get the connections water proofed instead of just a butt connection and hoping for the best.

Yeah, see what it looks like after a thorough power wire-brushing. If it then shows significant pitting, it may be weakend some.

Was the end cap holding water?

Cleanup with solvent left the spring looking great. I didn't need to use a wire brush.

I don't believe that water is the issue; more likely a reaction between the grease and something. The other valve had no issue at all.

This is a brand new tractor, and Yanmar has been working with me to get to the bottom. There is at least one other machine exhibiting the same.

I had problems with (just one) loader valve spring when my tractor was brand new. It would freeze in the winter. I finally took the cap off and about 2-3 tablespoons of water ran out. They were made in Brazil, I suspect it was just humid jungle air condensate.
I think I opted to not drill a weep hole, and just replace the air in the cap with ~0% humidity North American winter air. It's been good ever since.

I'd guess Chinese, Korean or Indian air could might be able to that to metal!!

Made in Japan. But I am not sure if the remotes are added there, or here.

Fukushima dried all that moisture! :)
