Spreading Germs

...to which I look them in the eye and extend my fist out for a fist bump. I take other measures during what I consider cold season such as wearing atlas gloves when I pump gas, or walk into my workplace (400 people interacting with 1400 inmates touching door handles and whatnot), and said gloves are disinfected when I get home. This is the first year I've really adhered to these self imposed rules, and the first year in memory I've not had a cold.

Working at the food bank for about 6 months now, and having had our kids in public day cares and summer camps for many years, and having them work at public day cares and summer camps during high school, a big reason parents send their kids to school sick or not is because that's the only place the kid is going to get a meal that day. It's also the driving factor in very few snow days off from school in many cities.... the kids don't eat if they don't go to school.

When my wife and I were dating, I would offer her a drink from my coke bottle. She'd take a swig and hand it back. Instinctively, I'd wipe the top off with my sleeve cuff before I'd take another drink!

It was just the thing to do growing up sharing a pop with a friend when we could only afford one.

Potluck dinners at church or charity functions are on my hit list also and partly because of them I am more of a people watcher and a germaphobe.

While watching older folks set one up a few years ago I noticed an older 60yo man cut cake or pie and put them on small plates. Invariably he would get frosting or filling on his fingers from sliding the piece onto the plate so he would give his fingers a hard lick or a suck to clean them, Then he would continue the process over and over. Of course I skipped dessert in that event.

One time my BIL and SIL were having breakfast at our house. After spreading toast with peanut butter my SIL licked the knife before she put it into a jelly jar. I was flabbergasted. Evidently it came so natural because when I told my wife she told my SIL what she did. She denied it of course. I need a different utensil for each so no cross contamination if possible.

I was in a popular ethnic buffet a few years ago and just in time I watched a kid about 8 or so put his bare hands into the lasagna pan. I called him out about it, told him to get his grubby little meat hooks out of the food AND told the server. The pan was whisked away.
I don't go back to that place.

Was eating at someones house once, and someone got a serving of food, licked the serving spoon, then put it back in the food and passed it on....... I passed on getting any.

A little off topic but many years ago there was an Ann Landers comment from a reader. Seemed that they had a neighbor who came calling just in time for lunch. One day that person took the plates off of the table, placed them on the floor where upon the dog dutifully licked them clean. The lady of the house then placed them directly back in the cupboard. It worked!

I keep disinfecting wipes handy in our home gym as my teenage daughter occasionally has friends over to work out.

Doesn't everyone do that???
I have watched some clients at work put sugar in their coffee, lick the spoon clean then wipe it dry and put it in the drawer, a good reason to take bottled water with me.
