Starlink

I just signed up for T-Mobile home internet
Speeds are pretty good compared to my DSL connection via Frontier.

T-Mobile - $50 per month - 30-177 Mbps Down / 5-20 up
Frontier - $27.99 per month - 6 Mbps Down / 1 up

Going to use T-Mobile until it proves it's reliable (3 months?) and then cancel the DSL. So far is been pretty good, no real complaints yet.
Keep us updated as they are definitely an alternative. I'm curious if there's a slowdown during peak times and throttling if you stream tv a lot.

Will do!

Edit: We stream all our TV so I’ll definitely keep my eye on it. Surprisingly we rarely had problems streaming TV via Frontier DSL, so I would hope there isn’t any issues with the new T-Mobile connection

Verizon is now offering $25/mo home internet if you have their cell plan. I checked- not available in my area yet.

Verizon is whacked. I had their 4G data plans and routers, I even signed up with an independent. The later to remove the data cap and throttling. But they kept saying their Home internet plan was not available for my area. I even went to a store and tried to explain what was going on. No help.

I am on day two of T-Mobile. So far so good, and speeds are three times as fast as my independent Verizon operator.

Needless to say, I don't think I will be a Verizon customer for long. YMMV.

My fastest speeds are early in the morning, slows down during the day. I've seen speeds of 225mbps and so far slowest has been 75mbps. I talked to a T Mobil tech yesterday and he said the tower close to my house is going to be upgraded within a month to the enhanced 5G. Said my speeds will increase quite a bit. They still limit the number of internet subscribers per tower. If TMHI was not available I would still be on the waiting list for Starlink.

Fastest Starlink speed I have seen is over 300mbps. That is on my system dedicated to a residential address. Slowest I have seen on the Starlink RV system is 4mbps. To be fair, that was one time only. The RV system usually turns in speeds between 50 and 80mbps.

I think I might use a J arm that mounts to soffit rather than penetrate the roof. As to where. That would be a combination of clearest view with ease of running the cable. Might need to order longer cable. While you might be able to narrow choices, likely you will have to get on the roof and evaluate with the obstruction app. Note that you should attempt to use the phone apt as close to actual dish location as possible. Some have stood at a spot to evaluate, then placed dish at ground level only to learn that dishy picked up obstructions not seen 3 feet higher. Lots of installs documented on reddit. Some show temp locations for extended duration. SL offers a number of mount options on their site, but I knew I had an old dish J mount sitting in shed. That worked perfectly. Do be careful up there.

I got this wineguard mount. Ordered the pipe bracket, which should clamp on this. Waiting on it.

I already bought the longer cable.

Would like to put it on garage facia just above porch roof, but might have interference there. At very top of roof is best choice.

With all those peaks Dennis, you have opportunity for fun. I only had to chose which end of a single peak. I choose the nearer.
