Received our Residential? kit and we have been getting between 130-168 on the download when run on a 5G phone.

It drops into the 30-40s when run back to back on my old laptop.
So I guess wlan in my laptop is old and slow and just limits speeds.
Very likely
I'm paying $55/ mo for 100GB up/down fiber landline. My Dell laptop, 2019 has a wireless modem that limits the speed to 50GB, which I routinely get, my phone, same vintage, sometimes gets 108GB. So it is very likely limited by the chip in the laptop.
(The laptop looks like it will be the last one in a long time that I will be able to get with 8GB RAM/1TB hard drive for $200 :( )
/edit , my big mistake - the speeds were supposed to be Mbps not GB

How old of laptop? Is laptop connected via wifi or ethernet? Wifi standards could have been less capable if it is quite old.

It is at least 11 years old low end 15" HP
yes just wireless connection
I should replace this thing.

The phone is one of the more recent 5G models Pixel 5a

We talking speeds not data limits right?
I was thinking anything over 40 Mbps down would be plenty for me/family and was happy to see the Starlink was at least this fast which is better than what the Mobley generally can do. was very happy to see the phone show well over a hundred Mbps down
Wow fiber is fast if the first character changed from an M to a G

Elon's comment when they tried the first actual test.

Well it sure took long enough for availability
but glad we were finally able to get service.

Just to keep stuff accurate, he means 100Mb/s, he could not afford 100Gb, nor does he have the hardware to utilize it.

Makes sense. The good news is that even 35Mb/s will allow you to do pretty much anything you need, so it isn't like the laptop is useless.

The conduit for fiber I put in on my street in November is now active. $79.00/month for first year(300mbs) then $107/month after that. Not sure what I'm going to do.
