This show the 1/4" flat bar stock that is welded to the 3/8" adapter plate.

It's funny, I thought I had to take the flat bar and bend it to fit, THEN weld it to the plate. My instructor had me tack weld it to the plate on one side, and then use a torch and hammer to bend it to fit. I then tack welded it on the other side and let it cool.

Finally I completed the weld.

Excellent work -- and a nice savings to boot.

Good job. I am now inspired to weld my own up next time, instead of purchasing one again.

Very good job. So you think you could turn them out for $120.00 a pop?

Hee hee, if it wasn't so much fun, it wouldn't be worth the time. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think I paid $38.00 in materials for all four plates and the trailer hitch receiver that I haven't mounted.

Now THAT'S fun! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now mabe you understand what I mean when I say I have about as much fun working on my PT as I do with it! Keep up the good work and keep posting those pics, please. Not a large percentage of us do much fabricating.

Looks pretty good to me!! When you make your next one and don't want this anymore(or if you plan to sell it)...drop me a line! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Very nice job. The attachment plate you show from PT is the same plate they send me with the pre drilled holes. The four holes around the perimeter are the ones I counter sunk to bolt on my low use attachments. I found a ripper for a king cutter box blade at TSC and will fab. a bolt on ripper. I'll post a picture. What did you use to cut the slots for the locking tabs.

I used a torch and then smoothed them out with a table top grinder. This was my first stab at cutting with a torch, so it was a little sloppy. I think to do it again, I would cut the sides of the slots with the bandsaw and then drill each inside corner out, then cut the back of the slot with a torch? I don't know, I am trying to get the cleanest result, quickly.

They probably cut them at PT with a plazma cutter, maybe even a CNC version before they bend the plate.

The nice thing about the bandsaw is that you can cut multiple pieces in one shot.
