Took the wheels and tires down Saturday and had new tires installed at Les Schwab $550 later. And today I made all new hydraulic hoses for the loader. This tractor had sat for about 4 years without being started. It fired up first hit of the key, but when I went to lift the loader fluid sprayed out of the side of some of the hoses. Lucky for me, I stock the hose and fittings. It nearly depleted my inventory of 3/8" male npt hose ends and used 30+ feet of hydraulic hose. So I'll have to replace those, probably about $150 worth of inventory. Beats having to pay retail, or having to have someone make them for me. I should have the rest of the parts I ordered from Kubota in the next couple of days. It needed bevel case seals, new seat, battery, cables, decomp wire, etc., about $700 worth of cosmetic and mechanical parts. All together I should only have about $1500 worth of parts into it including the hoses and tires. I figure I should be able to sell it for around $4000, so for about 10-12 hours of labor I stand to make about $2500. I wish I could do that every week.

Not real familiar with that model but do't sell too cheap - If it is 4WD with loader and in good running order you should be able to get more than 4K for it!

Here are your before pics. It will clean-up nicely. I was taught not to paint tractors before selling them, because a freshly painted tractor usually means somebody is trying to hide some bigger problem. I might go against that on this tractor, I think some fresh paint will make a huge difference.

Looks Sharp! How much time to disassemble like that? I really think if everything works well you can get more than 4K!

It took about 12 man hours, including 2 trips to the local car wash with the tractor. One with it all assembled and another when it was stripped down, plus another trip with the sheetmetal. We wiped it all down with lacquer thiner, scuffed it with scotchbrite and wiped it down again. I'm probably going to ask $5000 for it now, considering the extra work (about triple the hours I originally intended) and expense of all the decals and other small parts (I'll probably have about $2000 into it), but this machine will be practically like new. This machine was not used hard. The previous owner was a small nursery, they used it for mixing soil and pulling plant carts around. It only has 2400 hours on the meter, doesn't smoke, and the HST is tight.

Okay, here are some more pics. It is getting closer to being done. Tomorrow I should be able to get the hood, dash, and loader frame painted and installed. The mechanical work is all done. And next week I'll get the loader painted and installed, and it sounds like it is already sold.

Thanks Dieznutz, those 12 years I spent working at Kubota dealers must have payed off. Even my buddy whose ranch I'm doing the work at, was surprised that I knew where all of the pieces went when I was putting it back together. I keep reminding him that he could bring me that era of Kubota in a box and I would know where all of the pieces went. :laughing:
