STARTING KEY JD2010

Hello forum. Just after buying my 'new' JD 2010 (19630 I had the bad luck to break the key! So I went to the fence cut of a piece of wire, bent it and pushed it in the slot of the tractor. And it started. Now after a couple of weeks doing just the same thing with the wire (now my key) I get starting problems. Battery gets flat, I don't know if the glow plug works and it is difficult to start even when its warm, after a couple of hours running. So I think the key does more then just the wire and I think I am in need of a new real key. Anyone where I can get that? Living in Western Australia - Porongurup Area. Thanks guys.

You might have to go to a John Deer dealer for a key, I have a Massey Ferguson 1428V and thats what I had to do, no key shop could make a key it was a special key blank.

The wire is probably not getting it all the way to the OFF position. It is stuck in Accessory and that is what is draining the battery.

I used a 5065M at work and carried a spare key on my key ring and could use it to start ANY JD I came across....

Yes the JD dealer in Albany wants just to sell and advised me to buy a new JD lock: 300 bucks!

Not exactly. A4700R is the part number for the key that any reputable/competent JD dealer should be able to get for you.

Thanx a bunch Tx Jim. It Worked! Today I received my keys in Albany Australia! $7.88!!! while they were trying to sell met a whole new lock etc for 300 bucks. Gonna try them tomorrow but I'm sure they'll work. Thanks forum. Great you helped me out!

You're Welcome!! If your tractor has factory switch key should work.
