Steps for pickup bed access

Yes, I'm like Tommu56 with his cane,...I keep an old worn down garden hoe with long handle back there. It easily reaches just about anything and pulls it to the tailgate.

Way back in the 50's when they delivered bread to your house, the driver kept a long pole, (piece of 3/4" dowel I spose with a 3" nail driven through the far end to grab a loaf of bread at the front of the truck or wagon. My hoe is the same idea and works for me. (Oh-oh! imagine the Health Dept on the nail deal today)

Works good for that sort of thing but does nothing to help with the bed being to high to load with a small FEL.

I use a hoe the same way. 30 or 40 years ago I watched an old handyman type unload his old, beat-up truck this way.

When I first started hunting with the I go with, they all ribbed me no end about bringing a hoe. Until we finished setting up camp and went out to get a few truckloads of firewood. I used the hoe to help stack the wood in the truck as we loaded it, and we unloaded our truck in half the time the other guys took.

Now they check to make sure I am bringing it...

Then you need to buy a bigger tractor like a cat 994f that will reach over any truck bed you can drive.

I guess the math is just to much for you eh?

Todays F350's are the exact same height as my '99 F350 (57"). So I guess I will have to leave you old boys to talk about the good old days.

PS I am sorry you are short, get used to it because you are probably done growing, taller anyway.

Too much for me, you're one that can't figure out that 57" minus, take away, reduced by, (-) 24" is 33".

Jeez, a 99 f350, isn't that the same chassis as it is today?

I'm 6' so I'm no shorty. We're just saying, oh nevermind you're not listening to anything or anybody but yourself.

Wow! I knew people got worked up over topics like Green vs Orange, HST vs Gear and What's the best gun, but I didn't think that pickup truck bed height would be so controversial. :p

Since you didn't get it the first time around I will spell it out again.

If the box sides are 57" off the ground and you lowered them 2-3' they would be 21-33" of the the ground. Correct?

Then the box from the top to bottom is 24". Making it the bottom of the box 3" below grade to 9" above.;)

I suggest checking with your local community college. They might have classes on how to use a tape measure and a calculator.:D

Trucks are built high cause thats what most people want. If the truck is too high to load or unload on the side of the truck, use the tailgate. Or just figure out a way to deal with it, an added on step, a pole and hook of some sort.
