Storing plow

After using my plow I coat it with greese for storage ,but I still get rust areas. Is there a better product to use or way to do It?

I've always used a brushed on coat of used motor oil. I've also heard of folks that apply a light coat of enamel spray paint ...

I always coat everything with used hydro / motor oil blend that I salvage at changes I even coat my metal parts on my tractors with it! Painted surfaces and all.........I know it helps.......I see the results between seasons.

i sprayed a light coat of paint on mine. As its been said before, paint is slicker and will rub off quicker than rust the next time you go to use it.

My local Rural King and TSC carry a product in a spay paint can that goes on like flat black paint and wears off during use just for this purpose.

I believe what you are talking about is called plow coat. I have used it in the past but I have real good luck with grease myself. Plow coat seems to work real well too.

we always used grease from a bucket we kept just for that with a big paint brush. stays on even in the rain, comes right off soon as you drop plow in ground.

Fluid Film or LPS 3 are my favorite rust prevention sprays. Ive had great luck with both.

I painted mine with graphite paint. Don't know how it will work but it makes sense to me. I'll find out next time I use it.

I use some stuff that reacts with any rust and turns it to black iron sulfide, which is inert. Rust actually catylizes more rust formation.

Rust Oleum makes a version of it called Rust Reformer. You can probably buy it at Lowes and Home Depot or maybe any paint store. It's not a paint but a chemical that reacts with the rust.

I coated my snow plow with it, and any rust was turned black and shiney parts just stayed shiney.

NAPA has a product that does the same thing. There are/have been 3 or 4 differents brands of this same chemical.

You can paint over it, if you want.

Grease it and then stick a layer of newspaper on to the grease
